Can anyone who is in the trade point me to someone who actually provides trade insurance for motorcycle mechanics. I want to start off by setting up a business but the first hurdle seems to be going about it properly with everything in place.

Who can I ring up or who do you use as your broker?

Many thanks

I have used these for low-cost car trading.... they were very efficient and they used Covea as their Under writer.... As above its not that cheap, I'm a no-claims, no endorsements with an excellently scoring Postcode - 55 year old, 3rd party road risk only with demo driver cover was just under £440
Might be worth a try to see if they do Bikes

It becomes much easier to obtain if you're trading from premises - even if you don't want to insure the property damage of your premises risk, you'd be best off lumping 5k of tools and a bit of business interruption into the quote than going road risks only.

Road risks only has become a no ta for insurers as it's so open to abuse.

Bollington (google em) insurance brokers set me up with an Ageas road risk policy for around £550. Covers any bike up to 750, any car to group whatever (can't remember) and any commercial up to 3500kg.
Cars or bikes over the stated limits can be added but have to be notified - I have done that at no extra cost. I live in a low risk postcode.
Markersure (sp?) are another company who do them - will need to find a broker tho.

edit: might be markerstudy or something similar
