Quotezone is used for Topcashback insurance and I'm trying to run a quote. I work for an Ambulance service as a technician. There is nothing close to that in their list. If I put occupation not listed, no one will quote. Is there anything else acceptable? Is Nurse a 'close enough' title, even though I'm not a registered nurse? I can't say I've ever been questioned on my job before by an insurance company before...

Just pick the closest career you can reasonably justify as being related to yours, it's what I do.

My professional title is 'land quality and remediation technician', but it's not on there so I just put my career down as 'geologist'.

Many insurers wont insure people of certain professions.

When I worked at esure, we wouldn't insure anyone who would identify as a celebrity, an actor (even amateur), anyone involved in the police force, door security, social services, private hire taxi drivers (even if this wasn't their taxi)... List may have changed now mind you, but they class themselves as a low risk insurer, so they want to avoid people who may attract vandalism etc.

Course it does.

I did a quote on a bike (R3 for what it's worth - it wasn't even going be insured for commuting, much less business obviously) and the difference between my actual job, which is a driver for Domino's and a tweak of the truth, which was I stated I worked in store, was £1500.

It jumped from £500-and-something to about £2050. Just because it deemed me a higher risk, but the bike was insured for purely pleasure purposes, doing 5k miles a year, kept on private property.

Fucking ridiculous. Literally the only thing that changed was my occupation.

Oddly enough, apparently one of the riskiest professions is a computer programmer. They seem to always come out pretty expensive.

I unplug the machine that beeps and occasionally plug it back in? I also charge people up with said machine when they run out of electric. Technical stuff. Embarassed
