I hope you gave him/her a proper Viking funeral, flaming longboat and everything. May his/her soul spend eternity feasting on bread in the halls of Valhalla Thumbs Up

They're probably still angry about the "bedroom tax".

What's the kitten/pigeon exchange rate like?

I'm trying to work out if this is worse than speeding or wearing a tinted visor.

Ok got the video clip normal speed and slowed down. Unfortunately the place I'm staying is blocking youtube access so will have to wait until tomorrow to try to upload it. It's quite funny in slowmo!

I've ridden for years and not hit anything then late last December I hit a bloody pheasant on the B7076 near Moffat which destroyed my left mirror and indicator pod and today I was nearly taken out by that stupid pigeon on the York to Wetherby road. A great lorry came along the other direction about 5 seconds after the pigeon hit me so I think the bugger was trying to see if it could knock me into the oncoming lane. Fortunately the Pan is such a big heavy lump that it didn't flinch.

RIP poor pigeon. I didn't give it any burial. I assume it was killed outright but I didn't go looking. I was covered in grey pigeon powder which I had to quickly wipe off my visor.

Had to do the rest of my 200 miles to work without a flaming screen. Now got a neck like Arnie.

Kamikaze peasants are the worst, running around, eating salted meat and dry bread, being poor and working the fields and being all medieval and shit before charging towards the front of your speeding vehicle.

17 years old, I was learning to drive and a pheasant ran across the road.

For some reason I'd read somewhere that you shouldn't make hazardous movements to avoid anything smaller than a dog. I still don't know if this is true or not, but common sense says otherwise.

Being a young, naive and scared-to-think-for-myself idiot, I continued in a straight line and killed it without even slowing down.

Instructor asked me to pull over a mile or two later so he could check his bumper. It was fine but still...

He probably now uses me as an example to teach other pupils how not to be an idiot driver. Very Happy

Hit one last year, went through my screen, into my shoulder then had bits of pigeon all over the RHS of the bike. Made a right mess and bruised my shoulder nicely. Sad

Here's a video of the incident. Had a play around at slowing it down too Very Happy

It's quite funny at 1fps seeing the pigeon flying over my helmet followed by part of the screen.
At the time I just ducked down behind the screen a little and gripped tightly with my knees. I expected/hoped the pigeon to get deflected up over the screen but it appeared he got stuck in the gap between the two parts of the MRA Vario screen I fitted thus destroying it.

Actually the top part of the screen is more or less intact, I just need the bottom bit! Do you think there's any chance of getting hold of this bit from the manufacturers? Razz

That pigeon was being chased by a a bigger bird, top left. At least that explains why it "jayflew". The one I took to the shoulder at 80mph had no such excuse.

To be fair Pheasants are seriously dumb creatures.
I saw one fly over the road, crash through a hedge and land on its back with its legs kicking in the air as if it were still running. That's no way to conduct yourself whether your man or beast.

Yeah, I saw that too. I guess being out like a light was better than being torn apart whilst still alive. I wonder if the hawk still ate it?

I think it's just a second pigeon, one that wasn't stupid enough to fly across the road.
