Hi All,

Just watched my motorcycle get stolen from the window of my apartment. By the time I got down to the ground it was gone.

The bike is a 97 VFR750 in red, Registration R715 XDB. White transit minibus backed into the car park and loaded it into the back, was too far away to get a reg.

Looked like a professional job, imagine the scum that nicked it will be looking to sell it.

I'd appreciate it if you could keep an eye out.

Cheers.

Not another one stolen Shocked Evil or Very Mad

I'd say your chances of getting it back are pretty slim at best, unfortunately. Sad

Out of interest, what security did you have on it?

Best of luck in recovering it though.

Unlucky fella.
Flawed poll is flawed btw, the options are essentially the same and there's no 'Yes, you'll have it back in a week' option.

Inb4 "none" ...going by the BCF trend of late anyway.
Honestly I feel my bike is safer every time I hear it.

At least you can ride the ZZR to soothe the rage and despair? Sucks regardless though.

Had a 10mm chain round the back wheel, unfortunately there is nothing to chain it to so I guess they just picked it up. The bike is kept in a gated compound, but clearly some lazy fuck couldn't be arsed to lock the gate after they parked their car.

As for the flawed poll, please excuse my pessimism, but this is the second bike I've had stolen from liverpool. The first time the police did fuck all about it, I'm not expecting much this time. When the last one eventually did turn up (ragged around by scallies and dumped, and ruined I might add) I got charged 300 quid by the police for the privelidge of them towing it to storage.

As for the ZZR, I sold that to pay for this one. On the bright side I suppose, I had it booked in to put a new set of hoops on it today, if it'd been nicked after that I'd probably have completely lost the plot.

Sorry. Sad

I wonder if you'd get a better response from the rozzers if you formed a belief that the scallys waved a gun at you as they drove off? Thinking

Probably not. Everyday stuff now.

Going to have another go?

Going to ask if you can put in a ground anchor?

Going to put one in anyway regardless of the answer?

This. And an Almax chain.

Plus a loud as hell disc alarm or two.

Captain Hindsight says,

After having your first one stolen, I'd have smashed a ground anchor into the floor in the middle of what I assume is your parking space. Do a proper job so it looks neat, who'd complain? Also adding a Cyclone alarm or the sort to make it make some noise if some scummer comes a'messin'.

I do hope you find it though, whether you'll want it back is another matter.

Rogerborg - I very much doubt it.

I will be having another go, when I can afford to buy another bike. As the icing on the case, the bike is insured third party, as insuring a bike for theft in Liverpool is prohibitively expensive for a 22 year old like me. So a grand just went up in frames.

Actually the last bike was stolen from a different location in the city, I foolishly thought a locked gate and chain would be enough this time. I think I have now learnt the lesson that there is no such thing as too much securitY. Does anyone know where I can buy claynores?

Seen as the bike was stolen in broad daylight, in the middle of a reasonably busy area suggests the sound of an alarm going off wouldnt have deterred them too much

Mmm, it sounds like they've figured out that unless an armed response van happens to drive past at that exact moment, and at the start of a shift, then there's the square root of sod all consequences for daylight robbery. Sad

Where about in Liverpool was it stolen?

I'm out and about in the city today, so will keep an eye out. Wouldn't hold my breath on seeing it again though if I were you but, you never know.

EDIT: Don't expect our skilled police force to catch them if it comes down to a chase though.

an attempt was made on my mates XS last night. Smashed into a gated carpark with scooters. They lifted the cover and left it when they saw the 19mm chain linked to a steel pole.

This is the 2nd attempt on his bike. PoPo did do jack shit as CCTV is too grainy to see they mugs.

He lives in Bermondsey.

The chain should be attached to something, otherwise it can still be dragged which isn't too hard for a couple of guys. I get what you're saying though, the gate should be good, is there any CCTV on the gate?

While the alarm may not have deterred them, the sound might have made someone go to the window thinking, "who's bloody alarm is ruining my viewing of Jeremy Kyle?"

Indeed. My girlfriend was watching out the window on the phone to the police giving them a description of the van and telling them where it was going (I'm on the 21st floor so have a good view of the surrounding area). I'm chasing up local businesses for cctv footage too. doing the buggers jobs for them.

few years ago i had my bike stolen the same way.

Was parked outside my house with 2 chains on, pulled up in a transit and chucked it in. gone in seconds.

Police were very good, found out who it was, Gypos from Rossendale (they need to bomb that fucking place), even found the transit with ramps, chain cutters, different number plates in the back. unfortunately my bike was long gone.

They even said that its almost impossible to do anything to gypos.

Just be prepared for your insurance to double.

Best advise is to move house Smile

Well that's just a consequence for choosing a mode of transport which is easily stealable I suppose. These lot looked like professionals, not your garden variety scummers though.

Insurance won't be doing anything as I won't be claiming. Here's a question though - my insurance expires next month I'm reluctant to cancel the insurance at 11 Months and lose the no claims, whata stopping me allowing the insurance to run till it expires?
