Hi BCF members!

I will be getting my first 50cc moped quite soon, but I'm having trouble figuring out where to keep it. I live in Leith, which some of you may know to be a pretty rough side of Edinburgh, where most carjacking, theft and the like happen. If I were to store my moped outside, it would be stolen instantly, so my only real option is indoor storage. I live in a tenement flat (100% stone/concrete) with three locked storage cupboards on the ground floor. I have read that keeping bikes in communal stairwells is a H&S hazard, but would it be acceptable to store it in one of these providing the closet belonged to me?

Thanks!

Ask your landlord I guess? My mate puts his bike in a communal hallway even though it pisses fuel everywhere.

You've got cupboards big enough for a moped?

If you ask, the answer might be no.

It's usually better to seek forgiveness than permission.

I just would use it. Keep the area clean and tidy and park it up out of the way. That way it won't inconvenience, this means no complaints.

From what I have heard, you will be lucky not to have it stolen whilst you are riding it!

Couldn't you get something faster?
