Premix carb? on honda melody deluxe

so, stripped and cleaned whole ped, sprayed most, pop'ed back together, now trying to figure out how to get the premix carb all expertly tuned.. . bike seems to be running too fast on idle (like the choke was in warmed up on normal bike) but being a premix 2 stroke I cant find any choke like object, have released throttle cable to minimum, what EXACTLY do the two grub screws on the carb do? in ultra layman terms, and what should I be doing with them / aiming for? could this just be a result of running it without the belt? (waiting for it to turn up)

I don't think that is a prefix bike, there appears to be a 2 stroke oil bottle next to the battery and the oil injection pipe on the base of the carb where it goes into the crankcase. Its the same engine as a Honda sh50. Autochoke. the oil pump is on the front of the crankcase. Turn the throttle to full and then turn the oil pump until the line on the pump lines up with the one on the crankcase. Obviously engine off. You might want to check that the pump works, you can do this by disconnecting the oil pipe at the carb and manually putting the pump to full whilst engine idling. Oil should come out. Just don't do this bit for too long

Also check that all the vacuum hoses are in the right place. the round thing hanging onthe end of a hose is the autochoke air filter

Post up a close up pic of the carb and we will see if we can tel you what's what with the idle and mixture screws, please remove air filter for clarity

ahh, sorry, not too up on my terminology.. .

It runs fine, had to fiddle to get it back to happy idle, just don't know if I have got the oil / air / fuel ratio's right.. . (and I like to understand what I am twiddling with haha)

Top screw is idle, the one below and slightly to the left is pilot jet mixture. The one at the very bottom is float bowl drain. The oil ratio is adjusted by setting the pump as described in my first reply. Hope that helps.

so, got the belt, rides again but.. .

fiddled with the carb with the belt unattached (stupidly) has lower acceleration now.. .

will do a double check on the pump as you recommend tomorrow but im pretty sure its right, any idea's or advise welcome, cant get her out for top speed test yet but feels the same when going.. .

when you say turn throttle to full then set oil pump to it.. . what do you mean by 'set' i.e. the only thing I have i can adjust is the throttle? when running, if i disconnect the clear pipe, nothing comes out, including if i turn the throttle?

surely if there is NO oil pumping how did the pipe get full? it has a small air bubble that doesn't appear to move? guessing running without oil is bad but it does go 6 mph faster now Very Happy

The oil pump is on the front of the crankcase below the exhaust port, there are 2 bolts holding it in and they are loosened I order to turn the pump. There is a line on the pump and another on the pump arm. Line them up. Push the arm to full whilst the engine is idling to see if oil comes out. No oil is bad.
Bear in mind that I am doing this from memory, please double check everything I say with what you can see. Maybe spend £5 on a manual?
