I've just registered and thought it'd be appropriate to stop by here and introduce myself and hopefully get to know some fellow bikers and arrange meet ups an days out.

I passed my test at the end of October and been riding a 98' Mk1 Bandit 600 through the winter, loving almost every moment of it. Recently it's developed a gremlin or two so I'm hoping I can draw on some of the members experience and knowledge with regards to these in the near future.

Being a young(ish) bloke working too many hours for too little pay with no dependants and no nagging other half, I decided to treat myself this afternoon and bought a new CBR500R. Looking forward to picking it up during the week and putting some miles on it.

Oh yeah, my name's Jon and I'm a Brummie that's currently residing in Coventry.

So, you're a Brummie that's been sent to Coventry, sounds about right. Wink

Welcome aboard and for any mechanical problems, check out the workshop section. There's plenty of knowledgeable and helpful folk in there. Thumbs Up

I have my full A license, just didn't have the funds or necessity of a more powerful bike. I've kept the Bandit at the moment as it's the same bike I passed my test on so it has some sentimental value.

After getting through the winter with no issues at all it developed an electrical issue which has now been sorted, now it's got an issue the exhaust blowing and a small fuel leak (that could be the fact i left it standing for a week with the fuel tap on prime Rolling Eyes ). I'll have a search and see if other's have encountered similar issues in the past.

Originally from Brum, but ~10 years over Tamworth way and just moved to the outskirts of Coventry.

Yeah it's on finance, wish I was in a position where I could buy one outright but I'm just not fortunate enough to have those sort of finances n the bank.

I guess it's going to be a little confusing for most who have their full license to understand why I'd opt for this. I love the styling of the bike and it produces enough power to put a smile on my face Smile

Let's try not to judge Y U NO get an MT-07 for less tho? it's a perfectly sensible bike and I for one enjoy spanking a slow bike more than restraining a fast one.

Not that I've had a fast bike, and not that a 35kW CBR500R is a slow vehicle, but not everyone is crying out for more, more, more. I'm looking out for a Ninja 250 at the moment, for example, just for the lulz of it. I even considered a CBR300R, but I reckon it'll be a poor seller and parts and resale might be an issue - no such worries with the CB500s.

I did have a look at the MT-07 but I was won over with the styling of the CBR, I also managed to get it for £4,800 OTR with the Super Sports Pack so was quite happy with that.
I was looking for a nice bike to commute daily to work as well as have a bit of fun on the weekends, I confident this'll keeping me grinning for a long time.

That's it. At the end of the day it's what you're happy with, not what someone else would be. Thumbs Up

I'm not sure what's super or sporty about it but this is what's included;
    Akrapovic Slip-On Exhaust
    High Windscreen
    Hugger
    Seat Cowl

Hi Steve, I used Staffs Rider Training in Tamworth. I can't praise them enough to be honest, from day one i felt comfortable with the way they conducted the training and everyone there is friendly and easy to talk to.

If you're that side of Birmingham then I'd recommend you give them a try.
