Hi Folks,
if you are travelling for example to Switzerland (my Homecountry) you have to be clair about the following:
We have special laws called via secura - in this laws is declared, that the police can confiscate the driving licenses and the bikes if you have been controlled with too much speed than permitted. This is for guarantee the expected court fees!
How it is with the driving licenses in the EU - i don't know, but i can visualize, that there will be a possibilities by the laws in the individual countries to retain these licenses.
