After selling the K1 I really wanted something fun and this thing cracks me up every time I ride it. My commute to work is only 6 miles and Iv told by a few people that there's Greenlane that goes from the town I live to where I work so I had to get a Enduro/Mx style bike and after having my heart set on a KTM EXC 200 having agreed a sale only to get a text the next day to say Sorry it's sold (Twice!) and then a guy using his mates eBay account to bid his bike up I gave up.
Started broadening my horizons and found out that the KTM doesn't have an autolube system so started looking anything 2T with Knobblies.
Found this DT125RE near where I live for a great price and has FSH although it does need some new front pads.
Just wondered if anyone knows about replacing the rear shock as I'm 6"5 and overweight and it sags like Ya nans Tata's, hoping a YZ or WR adjustable will fit?
All in all great bike, now to find some lanes ____________________ Current: Gsxr 600 Srad - GS125 - DT125

Excellent motorcycle purchase there!
It looks very clean, and tidy and the stainless steel pipe is a bit horny too!
I'm glad you said it cracks you up and makes you giggle on every ride, as that's how my KMX has always made me feel riding it.
I suspect shock wise there's a few more options for the DTR's and it'd be worth checking out some of the forums for advice on this.
You might find that the OEM shock is re-buildable and or a heavier spring could be fitted?
I have the same sagging issue myself with the KMX, and an annoying squeak from the shock under compression. I got bored of this and ordered a multi way adjustable Wilber's shock from Rev's racing, complete with ride height adjuster. It relieved me of £430 though!
But it's shiny so I don't care, and adds a bit of bling to my little commuter.
Anytime you want to show more pics of this bike, then please don't feel shy! |

Paid £1700 which was more than I wanted to pay but as soon as I saw it I wanted it and had I noticed the pads I would've paid less
And Stevo it's fantastic really is clean and tidy and it's only on 10k still restricted though, having said that it's perfectly quick enough and don't plan on bogding it and blowing it up.
Iv been using my Drift Helmet cam down some muddy bits but always seem to come to a dead end also haven't got a laptop to edit the boring bits out
Edit: Would be interesting to see if a öhlins rear shock from a YZ125 would fit ____________________ Current: Gsxr 600 Srad - GS125 - DT125

Don't take this as gospel, but I believe a mate of mine managed to bolt CRM 250 forks and front end to his dtre and a shock was donated by a CRM too. From what I can gather it all bolted straight up and massively improved it.
They're great machines. The same mate got his dynoed at 27 BHP, it was quite difficult to use but went like stink! I think the only person that won't be happy with this thread is G.
not enough cuddly flat and soft cc's or a bright enough colour machine I suspect!
I reckon another shock could be made to fit without too much work, but If the std one is OEM and in good nick, then changing the spring might be a cheap fix? I'd be surprised if the YZ125 unit is much use for a DTR especially on a bike that's going to do some road work too. And it would have a lot more travel that could cause issues maybe?
I really do love the stainless steel pipe on it, even though it looks like they copied the DEP pipe in the design (probably because it works well). I just need someone to give me a good reason why I should not have a new stainless pipe made for my KMX now?
Oh and Fladdem, have you got any info on your mate's DTR and what he did to it to get 27bhp r/w? I suspect it's a bit quicker than a std DT200R at that power! |

I know he had six or seven barrels and heads knocking about he'd been playing about with, he'd got stuff of all sorts of bikes. He was a friends brother so was a bit older than me and at the time i wasn't interested. My mate eventually inherited it and despite everyone saying to either alter the pump settings or switch to premix, he never did finish it proerly and kept blowing it up
I thought ttr suspenders may fit and may work a treat coming off a lardy 250 onto a lithe 125? Must be somewhere that'll know, failing that a stiffer spring should sort it as mentioned ____________________ Current:1991 Honda MT50 (Soon to be a H100/MTX/MT5 hybrid), 1976 Honda Cub C70, 2005 Honda Varadero 125, 1993 Yamaha TTR250 Open Enduro , 2010 Road Legal Stomp YX140, 1994 Honda CRM 250 MK III, 1999 Cagiva Mito 125, 1992 Honda CB400 Super Four, Stomp T4 230, 1984 Honda H100s, 2009 Sym XS125K

I had actually consulted G in reference to buying a orange thing as I couldn't be bothered with anymore messing about, then went off the idea of 1 altogether.
I'd be over the moon if I could just change the spring but I can't find nothing online whatsoever.

If you want, I can measure the distance from eye to eye on my TTR and my CRM, and then get a vernier on the eyelets to check the width, I believe wr250F shocks fit the TTR, so if TTR fits DTR, wr250F may fit DTR?
I only offer because I rolled my micra on sunday and have been signed off work for four weeks and despite breaking every limb, I'm made of rubber so have nothing to do in my time off. ____________________ Current:1991 Honda MT50 (Soon to be a H100/MTX/MT5 hybrid), 1976 Honda Cub C70, 2005 Honda Varadero 125, 1993 Yamaha TTR250 Open Enduro , 2010 Road Legal Stomp YX140, 1994 Honda CRM 250 MK III, 1999 Cagiva Mito 125, 1992 Honda CB400 Super Four, Stomp T4 230, 1984 Honda H100s, 2009 Sym XS125K
