Google maps. WTFFFF

Does anyone use the new google maps for creating maps and exporting the KML files for conversion / upload to their <insert name of GPS device/software> ?

I ask because for the last 2 years I've been happily (mostly) using google maps to create some nice rides. Look at google maps, plot out some cool routes to places, use streetview to get a feel for a road, include/exclude.
Export to kml, use RouteConverter to change to .trp file and import to CoPilot on phone.

It was fairly simple and straightforward.

New google maps is just shit. Firstly, I can't even get to the map designer easily, have to go to https://www.google.com/maps/d/ .

I can't use streetview on the map I'm designing, so have to have two tabs open, one for google maps and one for "google my maps" or whatever the designer is now called.

Get the route planned, eventually, but even that takes some getting use to with the "layers".

Export to KML and .....oh, even though I asked for "Entire Map", none of the Waypoints are included, so I just have my Start and Finish point.

Is anyone using this steaming pile of horseshit with any level of success?

No as i would rather just go and take whats coming rather than checking/plotting route's however. Look again, bottom right you see what looks like a flash of lightning. Mine says i am in light mode and i may need a browser update. Could the non light mode version be what you need?

Lots of changes enforced - even for 'classic' maps - I've had to offer bing/yahoo options thanks to google no longer offering letters for stops, which was quite useful for the way it was being used.

Just plan it in the standard google maps, then convert it to a GPX/KML file using this:

That's what I do anyway.

Download Tyre, it's free. I spent ages faffing about with Google maps the other week in order to create a route. I then found that I couldn't open the route in Tyre to create an ITN file. Tyre is infinitely easier to create a route in I find.

If you've got CoPilot, why not use the built-in route planner? (Or have you got a very old version?)

Ok, you have a small screen but you can zoom in. I just used it in the Peak District, planning a pretty complex route in no time (when the guy with the pre-planned route when AWOL).
