Suzuki B100p /B105p handlebar mounting

Hey all,
I've got a Suzuki B105P that I've taken apart and am now putting it back together.

I'm trying install the handlebar mount, but have found an issue.

I'm attaching a picture to help explain.

I'm wondering if I lost a part because where the mount meets the frame and the large bolt screws in, there seems to be a gap between the underside of the mount and the top of the "neck" of the forks.

Is there some sort of spacer or washer that goes in here?

spacer missing?....see cmsnl to clarify....the pictures tell a thousand words....long live cmsnl!!!!!!!!!!

if you have not heard of cmsnl before, just google the name ( cmsnl ) and follow your nose......

if no oe spacer there ever, ( spigot on "top nut" the slotted nut fits into the alloy top yoke ?) maybe forks too high in bottom yoke, but see cmsnl to be sure.......

post the diagram up on here so people can see how good they are, and they are free as well.

this stuff was not freely available when I was your age, it was like all jap bike info was top secret or summut.....but now, its a fantastic and free resource...nice one cmsnl!

ps that pic looks like its from a manual?? and show a pic of the bottom yoke...does the bottom yoke sit very close to and foul the bottom of the steering head tube?? bottom spacer below bottom race missing??

no, they can use cmsnl if they wish, else take advise from you.

so are there any parts missing or in the wrong place...?

does the head stock bottom yoke "tube" have a slot for a keyed washer to fit in the region of the top slotted nut area??

suggesting that a keyed washer fits in between the two slotted "nuts" so that the bottom slotted nut does not turn and upset the adjustment when the top slotted nut is turned....you know that when the 2 slotted nuts are tightened against each other that the adjustment of the head bearings change, you would if you have ever done this type of job, so there!!! :karma: 8o) :D

I don't know why cmsnl is so shunned on here, maybe you lot know it all and don't need cmsnl for any advise...how the bloody hell do your heads fit thro your stuffed full of bike manuals home library door??

anyways for the new bees and ones who are not sure, see the exploded views on cmsnl for the way stuff goes together, and whats what etc etc etc .....but make sure you are sitting down when you see the prices. :karma: :D :up:

I've attached a few pics.

In the two shots with the handlebar mount, hopefully you can see the gap/angle that it has with/without the thick washer under the mount. It's noticeable at the top of the shocks.

The pic of the bolt shows the washers that were on it. The big one is black because it got powdercoated with the rest of the bike.

Initially I tried putting thick washer on top of the mount. When I put it under, the handle bar mount is pretty much level.

There is a washer in the parts picture that sits under the mount, but in the picture it doesn't look that thick, and its # is the same as the other thinner ones used...

parts diagrams and exploded views can be so helpful, cant they.

perhaps now some of the non believers will repent and see how powerfull these exploded views can be! and cmsnl is full of them :D

anyways the do not have them for your bike, but you have persevered..........

the diagram seems to show two part number 31's??

the bottom 31 seems to be a distance piece sitting on the bottom yoke steering tube.........with the lower steering bearing "cup" sitting above it.

if the distanced piece is missing then the bearing assembly will sit lower, meaning the whole assembly will fit "lower" but will probably foul the frame and not allow smooth un hindered movement from lock to lock.

back in a mow....

part 33, the lower "lock nut" seems to have a register??

washer 38 fits above 33, being a bit thicker than the 33 register??

34 is the upper lock nut, does this also have a register??

34 tightens down on to 38 and then 33. the washer 38 stops the lower lock nut 33 from turning when the system is tightened.

back in a mow....

does 38 the washer have a tang or key to stop it from turning??

part 20 is a washer also........back in a mow.....

I have now looked at the pictures and there is a large gap tween top yoke and the steering bearing system ....there also seems to be an upper washer missing, part 20??

using the exploded views, are the parts in properly, the lower distance piece and the 2 washers..........

note, are the fork headlight mount "tubes" and their rubber mounts in properly??

the gap seen in the last pic is too wide to account for any "compression" or "nip" of the headlight tube rubber dampers.....so that the headlamp is effectively "rubber mounted".....

good on you for the diagram, I will have to remember that location ( its in my little black book now ), perhaps it should be listed on here some where...what do you think admin?? :karma:
