Well it has been out for a couple of months now: https://www.homeworldremastered.com/

Has anyone committed to it? I nearly purchased it but it seems they may have cocked a few things up in the process so Im holding off for now.

To sync multiplayer across the two games they basically ported HM1 into the HM2 engine and thus changed it from a ballistic physics model to a roll the die system. HW1R seems also to have inherited the non working formation systems and the useless tactics from the original HW2 as well as the dynamic difficulty I despise. Such a shame Crying or Very sad

The package does come with the original game but oh well. They seem to be actively working to get it working correctly but we shall see

Screw them. They made a deliberate bad decision and they should suffer the consequences. I'm not paying them for promises. Do not want.

Was tempted to buy it to play the original. Found an old iso instead so managed to get that running.

You sound a bit bitter about it Rog Confused

I'm not angry, I'm just disappointed. Disappointed and angry.

There wasn't anything in there that needed fixing. A graphical refresh and they were good to go. Given that they had the source, they seem to have put a lot of work into spacking it up - they're certainly asking "lots of work" money for it.

If they had to pick one engine, it should have been HW1. The ballistics were dropped for HW2 in order to increase the number of units. Not really an issue on modern hardware.

I think I actually had tears in my eyes the first time I played Homeworld, that game was a master piece and dropping the ballistics will be a bit of a shame really =(
