I picked some Cat Mint from a garden a few weeks ago, put it in an envelope and gave it to our cat. He is normally the most laid back chilled out cat, he went absolutely mental for it - very entertaining to watch.

Bought a catnip toy for ours, cue some curious sniffing and a bit of chewing, but didn't go that mental for it at all. Even bought a bag of the stuff to sprinkle on their beds, they weren't interested! ruddy cats.

About 1/3 of cats are unaffected by catnip, and whether catnip acts as an attractant is hereditary.
