The most stupid road "safety" feature you have ever seen.
Give me your best shot here.
Here I proudly present you:

A school in Lincolnshire is to get new bollards in the shape of schoolchildren – to fool drivers into thinking they are the real thing and make them slow down.
It may work. Drivers may start ignoring real children

On a similar note, lollypop men / women.
Because having one step out on me in a 30mph A road is totally safe, at what point is walking in front of traffic on a busy road approrite or safe, anyone else would wait until there's a gap in the traffic, if kids are to young or unsafe to cross the road on their own they shouldn't be on their own
Seems like a job not needed in today's day and age IMO. |

I have searched and searched again for the picture of this one but, all photographic evidence appears to have been wiped from the interwebs.
However, I did find the original story, which did have a picture of it but, even that one has been removed.
Basically, they erected a new road sign about 2 foot into the actual road on the B19 in the IoM.
Probably as stupid as you can get

In N.Z I have seen roadsigns such as "eyes on the road, don't be distracted" and "look where you want the bike to go" seen these on bends too |

And when the Court asks you, why did you ran over 3 children, you will say, that you thought those were made out of wood. ____________________ '87 Honda XBR 500, '96 Kawasaki ZX7R P1, '90 Honda CB-1, '88 Kawasaki GPz550, MZ 150 ETZ

Have to agree with Ben90, the money they must have spent putting 20mph signs and roadmarkings throughout Bristol
must run into the millions, just for everybody to completely fucking ignore them. There never seems to
be anybody enforcing the limits anyway. If there was, they would find that a disproportionate percentage of offenders
are late for school mums hammering their Vauxhall mobile womb dumps along on roads where the limits have been imposed
to protect their little miracles. You couldn't make it up. ____________________ Currently enjoying products from Ford, Mazda and Yamaha

There are some in Southampton, near the general hospital, and they are very freaky. They also remind me of the old Spastics Society charity boxes of my youth. They were a similarly-sized plastic child with leg calipers and a slot in the head for loose change. ____________________ Greetings from Shitsville! |

The language barrier is very thick here.
Let's say you were going through the same street 100 times. Now, you know those wooden kids are there just to make you cautious, so you just start to not give a feck about them and just drive 30+mph or what's the limit + your I don't give a feck about the limit.
Although you could do this 99 times and nothing happened, the 100th time a child of the same height would stand there and the moment you get close, it makes a step into the road. You going 30+, accustomed to that kind of speed, you've been on that road 99 times before, and not being able to react quickly enough.
And the rest is pretty obvious, doing 35-40 in 20mph zone, killing a child, being sent to prison, where you're gonna have to take care not to drop the soap. ____________________ '87 Honda XBR 500, '96 Kawasaki ZX7R P1, '90 Honda CB-1, '88 Kawasaki GPz550, MZ 150 ETZ
