Hit yet another bird this morning on my way up to Scootchland.
This time just outside Moffat. Not sure what it is, maybe a swallow of some kind? Any Bill Oddies out there.

I was wondering how often everyone else hits birdies. This is the third since December, but before that I hadn't hit a thing in 11 years of riding.

Fortunately they are getting smaller (pheasant - pigeon - tweety pie).

I only fitted a new touring screen to replace the one the pigeon destroyed last night!

Anyway here's the video proof of the crazy bird:

and the bloody mess she left on my helmet!

6 pigeons in one strike is my record, they were eating some discarded food in the middle of mile end road
early one morning. I was driving a bus, why they don't fly to the side rather than straight up I'll never know. Laughing
I counted them on the way back the other way about an hour or so later.
Had a pheasant run out from the bushes in front of my bike last year but that's about it on two wheels.

Since Nov 2013. Can't be more precise than that. Although I do take it off when I'm not riding Very Happy

Didn't mean to kill it. Didn't have much chance to avoid it! I was wondering, does it look like it's carrying something big in its beak here?:

Maybe it was struggling to take off and get out of the way.

My helmet looks like a fly massacre site after I've ridden for anything further than about 30 miles. Must have been a bit of a f*cking shock when that thing hit you! Confused

I rarely drive a car, drove one a fortnight ago, hit tweety pie, who was redistributed all over and around the bonnet release catch.

In the finest tradition of BCF you were at fault. You were travelling too fast, your obs were very poor and instead of braking you should have swerved - you had time. You should expect birds to fly at you and be prepared, that's what being a motorcyclist is all about and it's no good blaming the poor bird. It's the sort of incident that happens to me regularly on my commute and I always deal with it superbly and feel no need to post about it. Have you considered advanced bird avoidance training? Not even 50:50 IMO. Totally your fault. You should be locked up and the key thrown away.

Have I forgotten anything?
