fitting custom can

i've got a z750 and i've bought a beawulf can to replace the stock. went to put it on the exhasut to find it won't fit(see pic)

i'm guessing that piece on the end of the exhaust comes off? it seems to be stuck on tight. any suggestions on how to remove it ?

Which side is the exhaust? The arrowed part looks like some sort of exhaust paste.

That looks like a graphite gasket it's supposed to fit between the end can and the link pipe.

i allready have the link pipe inserted into the can, the image above is that of the link pipe going into the exhaust. i did send a picture to beawulf thinking they may have sent me the wrong link pipe. they said "the gasket needs removing"

it's meant to be there then? i don't want to force it off just for the new can still not to fit, and not to be able to get the old one back on.

It's the same on my CBR.

The stock can/linkpipe has a graphite gasket where it meets the downpipes, the aftermarket can doesn't.

They cost about £8 and don't seem to survive removal.

Yeah without the gasket the link pipe should be an exact fit over the end of the downpipe.
