Sooo I have messed up, as im re greasing my swing arm this weekend i thought I would put my new Honda chain and sprockets on however I assumed Honda would have made the chain in the right length so I had it joined with the soft links, now i realize the chain is 120 links not 116 and will be too long, can I or should I use a split link or try to find a new 428 softlink?.
Avise please its an O ring chain.

Hi,
afaik honda dont make chains, they just buy them in from a well known company like did or similar.
When you buy a chain & sprocket set, the chain often comes a bit longer as its made to fit a few different bikes.
its normal to remove a couple of links prior to fitting.
What bike is it?
I'd be tempted to buy a split link then remove a link at a time until its the required length.
I've fitted those kind of chain links to bikes up to 500cc without any issues but im sure there will now be a torrent of replies saying not to use one.

For a CG you can use nearly anything. Check out CZ chains, cheap, top notch quality, designed for low powered bikes. Or just go with DID, EK chains etc. Thumbs Up

I have the chain and sprockets Oem Honda set, just didnt expect them to put 120 link chain in there when its specific to the 04-08 bikes. I now have to grind the rivets off and find a replacement. Sad Sad

Be sure to grind the right amount of links off. Then buy this (no extra tools required + it's cheap and easy to put on):

Attention!: For the future reference, never use this kind of rivet link for 500cc+ motorcycles.
