What are peoples opinions on this?

I lost the bike wheel whilst riding in the wet this weekend, came of the bike has it chucked me to the road, helmet only touch the road as I came to my rolling stop, and has a few marks on it.

Some work collegues of mine, who are more expeirenced bikes say they would change the helmet.

Replace.

My reason: piece of mind and the fact that helmets are a one time use.

Discovered today that my AGV came with a one year warranty.. of which I gladly made use of in getting a part replaced.. I assume if the same thing happens to you again with a helmet under warranty it may be able to get sent to the manufacture and either replaced or repaired.

Always something to ask about if you replace and buy a new one.

Replace it. Even if you crash, and hit your head and the lid looks fine, I'd consider replacing it. That one has visible damage... replace.

Ive only had the helmet a few weeks brought it for J&S, the guy behind the counter asked me for my details for warrenty. So i guess it is.

How did you go about using the warrenty to get a new one?

I got my AGV from J&S also, I didn't have my helmet replaced just the part on either side that keeps the visor open in different positions had snapped so they replaced it with one of there display models and had AGV send them the part so I didn't have to wait or use a hire helmet.

Best bet is to take it to them in person to asses the damage, they'll probably phone the manufacture and then send it off for assessment.

Ask them about a hire helmet while your there, my local J&S had one medium sized one they could give me as a last resort if I had to get mine sent off, worth an ask.

Or ask your biker mates if you can use one of there old ones for now, better than not being able to ride.

Thumbs Up

The warranty is not going to cover accidental damage...

Obviously I don't know how hard you hit your head but personally looking at the tiny graze and knowing how easily those matt type lids scuff I'd probably just keep it but that's just me.

Looks like a light scuff to me too, but only the OP knows how hard the impact was.

Looks OK to me. In fact my current lid has more visible damage than that and I picked that damage up from scuffing the top of my garage door as I passed under it.

This.

All you will do is waste a staff members time, and unless they are shop manager or owner, they aren't going to be earning much.
Working retail is shit enough as it is, please don't make it worse for someone.

I do agree with NJD about replacing for peace of mind though, my weird logic would still allow me to ride with it until replaced. Very Happy

Depends on how hard it hit. If it literally just gracefully touched it would be acceptable IMO.

Anything harder as though you've dropped it from 10cm onto the bonce I'd replace it Thumbs Up

Fuck me, my lid had more 'visible damage' last time I accidently kicked the damn thing.

It'll be fine. It has not suffered an impact, just a graze. Thumbs Up

Impact in video looks a lot harder than you would assume from the scuff. Probably replace, though I would be buying a better bike and better gear first. Take the padding out, inspect inside. If the foam is painted, missing paint is a sign of damage.

No point having a great lid, if your on a shitty 125 with bias tyres and crash every 5 mins.

Ebay is great for lids. People buy without checking sizes. If its not scuffed, perfect condition, then its going to be a lot better than mine after 15k miles. Shark S600-S900's go for around 40, they are my preference.

Old lid, wore for a good month after... Embarassed https://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m593/Kramdra/GEDC05502.jpg

The video does look like it took a dunt. I'd go for another lid. Cosmetic damage doesn't bother me but it looks like it took a whack.

hope the rest of you isn't too sore Thumbs Up

Only a fractured arm, only damage to the bike is the crack in the deadlight surround visable in the video when i turn the indicator the right way.

You all right, I though the elbow/shoulder armour in my jacket took the brunt of the impact, but you can clearly see the visor opens when the helmet as made contact with the road.

Luckly I still have my old helmet, there's £100 wasted on a moment of stupidy

How does he know hard hard the impact was? When I had an off a few years ago I thought I would just get up and walk away but ended up snapping my collar bone.

It all happens so fast and the adrenaline is pumping so it's hard to tell. It was only when I was lying down int the ambulance that I started feeling pain.

I would replace the helmet personally. I mean how much of a scruff does a big impact leave? I don't know, do you?

Adrenaline is good and bad at the same time, in the click I've gave your guys you see me lift the visor all the way open with a fractured arm, what you've not seen a few minutes later is I'm texting my buddy to come get my bike home with said arm.

Now i can't use my hand or have much movement in the arm. I cant use my hand because it fractured at a support point for the muscle and elbow

Fractured at the joint, that is going to suck for a few months. I broke my Fibula a few weeks ago, not allowed to ride bike for another 3 weeks. I know I can, and walking is easy - but not allowed. It takes a long time to heal fully.
