Carb leaking fuel through overflow

bike is an NSR 125 RM, standard carb.

Fuel pours out the overflow tube when the tap is switched on however when filled with water there isn't a leak, the float valve also seems to work when blowing into the fuel filter and moving the float. Any ideas on how to fix?

so, you filled your tank with water then opened the fuel tap an it doesnt come through the overflow

but if its petrol in the tank that leaks through the over flow?

I didn't fill the tank with water, I put water in in with the carb out the bike.

Looking at the manual it says the float level may be high because it's a bit rich.

It was the fuel mixture screw, I had it and extra half out to make it richer but. It's now on it's standard and doesn't leak.

What are you talking about?

NEVER put WATER, where ONLY PETROL shall be. Be sure to let it all dry out, or the next topic will be, the engine is dying under load.

Also, why would you want richer mixture?
