They're also sold as the Skyjet SJ125. Most posts about them appear in the Workshop section, starting with "HELP!!!!".

They have a fairly robust CG125 copy-engine - kick starter on a 'sportsbike' Thumbs Up - but the money went on the plastics not the metal and they go sad rather quickly.

Come to think of it, I can't recall ever seeing one come up on Gumtree that wasn't in a parlous state or needing something doing to it.

Yours may be the exception, but I'd keep on top of the maintenance. Wink

Hi,
While I agree with most of whats posted above, I had very few problems with mine. (in skyjet colours)
Engine was fairly bullet proof, I done 5000miles in 1 summer & all I did was change the oil.
but change it often, & it seems to prefer the cheap stuff.
everything else on the bike was crap, all budget stuff dressed up to look like a sports bike.
I dropped or crashed mine a few times but couldnt kill it!
Any parts that needed replacing, I did with honda cbr125/150 parts from thailand, including a funky rear light with integrated indicators. I thought it looked cool, at the time.
.best to go over EVERY nut & bolt & replace with decent fasteners & use threadlok &/or shake-proof washers. Those bikes rattle...a lot!
The electrics, especially around the instruments, are useless & prone to snapping or rusting. Tidy them up with loads of gaffer tape & don't believe the speedo, it lies.
good luck with it there's worse 1st bikes...though I can't think of one atm.

cheers,
GAZ

The primary reading on the speedo is kph. Shhh!

While i agree the engine is great and there has never been a problem, I've had constant problems with just little things for instance my Rear sprocket the bolts that secure it to i'm guessing its called a hub? and not the wheel vibrated loose after 120 miles on a new one bought from CMPO, my fairing bolts have fallen out My rear brake keeps destroying it self( had a new caliper and master cylinder) then the whole rear brake assembly seized
i snapped a throttle cable in the first 600 miles too but my new one has lasted me over 12,000 but other than that its not really had anything wrong with it and it was standing for a year too! started fourth kick
but the engine has always been reliable! its kinda strange because everyone go's on about them breaking down i cant comment on speed though ive had an indicated 72 mph but you know + or - 10% my revometer go's waky going down the motorway too haha
i burst a valve in my front wheel too but that was from hitting a pot hole

Well that's where I've been going wrong Embarassed

In all seriousness I did make this mistake seconds after riding off from the dealership for the first time, approaching a hill and the speedo said 30 had cars up me rear and couldn't figure out why, turns out I was reading the kph and was actually doing 20mph Embarassed Rolling Eyes Laughing

josh95 wrote:

Casual riding I end up doing 40mph in 4th, end up shifting up to 5th just for comfort and less vibration, can manage about 50-53 (indicated) with a constant twist of the wrist of and good weather conditions in 5th.

I was starting to think I had a broken bike or was riding like a grandma.. think the transition to a bigger bike may feel like a rocketship Embarassed

..

If the idea of a vixen or arrow crosses your mind go with the vixen, many owners say they see a 60-70mph indicated although that seems a world away from what I can manage on my Arrow.

Personally don't like the cruiser styling so that made my choice easy had I known the speed difference I may of bit the bullet and just rode something that was capable of more than the speed limit Rolling Eyes

Inb4 "running in period" is major conspiracy and doesn't exist IRL Shocked

Yes.

Treat it like a princess and ride like a grandma keeping it at low revs at all times.

Should be done with the running in process after 1000km.

Whoa there. The last thing you want to be doing is to have the engine labour. This is also an apocryphal fact.

Ride it any way you want, just change the oil regularly. It's only a litre.

Sounds good in theory but as in my case I had so many problems in the first couple of months after purchase that the line "just give it them back" was used endlessly, and that was following the advice I received in regards to keeping it below 5-6k revs, needless to say as a result I ended up doing 30mph most of the time during brake in period.. although that was during winter so was probably appropriate.

Not the ideal time to be wearing in a new motorbike (winter that is) even more so a chinese one.

I do wish they'd update the arrow, I noticed how slow it was yesterday when I was slow controlling up a hill behind a L plate dirt bike and all of a sudden he shot of into the distance overtaking all the cars meanwhile I'm left like "should I get off and walk or..?".

Are you geared too tall?

Quick article read on google states tall means the opposite so really short shifts inbetween gears (?), if so, yes.

Stock chain, rear sprocket, gear ratio, 16T front sprocket (changed from the standard 15T).

1st gear (riding normally - for me - and without revving to high) returns a speed of about 8-10mph, meaning 2nd is required in a near instant.

16T was added to try and extended the time inbetween shifts.

Just so we're clear, "riding normally" on a 125 means changing up when you hit the limiter or the valves start bouncing.

You may have done that and created more theoretical top speed but ended up having gearing the bike can't pull so lost both acceleration and top speed.

It's a 125 you should be bouncing off the redline before changing and pretty much only in 1st as long as it takes to get rolling. If you are always short shifting any 125 is going to be slow.

If it wasn't for insurance I'd be tempted to buy another 15t sprocket and ask the shop (as I'm under warranty) to change it out.

Oh and I'm using the warranty to make up for my lack of mechanical know how and capability not in fear of voiding it or doing work I shouldn't.

Something to think about at the time of renewal.

Not sure how your insurance would be effected by a sprocket change??? as for the warranty again I don't think a sprocket change should effect that..... it's a consumable they get changed.

With the 15T stock front could you redline top?

I declared the 16t on my current policy when it was fitted.

I never got to really use the 15t, had it taken off before the first service I think, at that point I was new to bikes and learning to tire as well as running the engine in.

Really? Why? It's not a performance part, I don't think it is even a modification as llexeter list 4 different sizes of front sprocket for that bike.

How much did the insurer sting you for that declaration?

As said it was done not long after getting the bike, within a couple of weeks at a guess, so at that point I didn't really want to ride uninsured, and wasn't sure what needed to be declared and what didn't.

Of course now I'm more than aware but at the time was a worried newbie Rolling Eyes

£40.. I assume it was the maximum admin fee, when I questioned the charge all the person could tell me was "adjustment of policy", basically because I'd already phoned them I had no choice but to get bummed, put it on to my payments instead to lessen the lube needed.

Looking at my policy documents the has a tick in "yes" for "is it modified from standard" and yet at the bottom under "modification schedule" everything is blank, oh dear oh dear Laughing

Although I'll deal with it all for the first year on the road as they where the only insurance company who had an affordable quote at the time of purchase, next year however I'll be sure to play the fun and games Rolling Eyes Laughing

Think with Lexmoto you either get a good one or you don't. I bought one (a vixen ) a couple of years ago as a run around ( for under a grand you can't really grumble ) hung on to it for 6 months until I traded it in as part exchange for a fazer. To be honest it was an ok ride the gearing was a bit odd but topped out about 65 to 70 , have heard nightmares about this make but mine was good, the bike got sold on to a bloke up the road and is still used pretty much on a daily basis.
