Givi Trekker Outback : Rattling top case

What a disappointment !

I've done 5000 miles on my NC750X, the luggage was fitted from new, this is quite possibly closely related to some very similar Givi luggage, but these ones are the aluminium cans, using the common base plate.

The bar on the top of the case rotate by themselves and also rattle like mad, but It squeaks and rattles worst where the box fastens to the base plate. It sits against 4 rubber feet which are fastened into the base plate, but there's movement at the front where it hooks into the plate, and movement at the back. I feel that this movement is as it was designed, but I need to stop this annoying noise, Givi aren't particularly bothered (they can't hear it from their offices, so it doesn't bother them)

Has anyone had the same issue and solved it ?

The base plate's rubber feet / stoppers are secured through the hole. I thought to remove them and to use a bolt and two nuts, which when adjusted can raise the head of the bolt to the correct level to take out this movement, I can top the bolt with a push-on rubber cap.

Failing this, some form of foam or rubber could help cushion the box against the plate and avoid the movement ?

I have the same box, it does the same thing. I got some hard rubber (rubber mat will do) cut 1-2 inches, and stuck it to the underside of the box where the handle end is, no need to prop all four points, just the two at the back.

It looks a little untidy but putting them on the rubber posts on the plate was tried and they eventually rubbed off with movement so use the larger surface of the box base and stick it on there.

Totally silent, much more solid and can only see the rubber mat when it's off the bike.

In a similar vein, my plastic Givi top box rattled. I replaced the feet, which sorted it for a short while, but it came back.

I appear to have fixed it wrapping an old bicycle inner tube (cut to remove the valve and make it a long piece of rubber than a circle) around the rack at the seat end underneath the box to take up the space. No rattles since, and as I very rarely remove the box it doesn't really matter what it looks like.

It's a shame to have to bodge something that was really not at all cheap in the first place

I could, but can't be arsed to go downstairs and remove the box, take the pic and upload it.

Just stick two bits of rubber to the underside of the box that contacts the two rubber discs of the plate nearest the center catch, this basic shim will push the box away from the plate more and mean a tighter fit.
If it's harder to push down until it clicks but still locks on after some mild force, it should be rattle free.
