Hello, I'm having a noob problem with my Yamaha WR 125.. I'm trying to tighten the chain but the allignment marks on the axle are way off when its tightened, I can get them to be 5 marks on each side but when its like that the chain is way too lose, I have the marks matched on the other side though but I can't get them to match on the side of the chain its hard to explain but any tips on how I can get the little marks to match on the chain adjuster thing?

First off, the chain is correctly tensioned when the tight point moved approx 2 inches from top to bottom. Find the tight point by rolling the bike forward and then test the tightness. Repeat until you find a point where the chain moves less than anywhere else.

The marks on the swingarm will not be perfect but you will find that they are good enough. it they are that far out your swing arm is fucked. Trust them.

Start with the chain side. Tighten it until the chain is still a bit loose. If you have to tighten it more than two full turns of the bolt, you may want to adjust the other side so that the marks are matching again and then check the tightness of the chain.

Once you have the chain almost tight enough, check and adjust the other side.

You should find that you will then only need to turn the adjusters equal (approx. a quarter turn) amounts on each side until the chain is correctly adjusted.

If you are really concerned about your wheel alignment, get two lengths of (straight) wood and place one tight against each side of your rear tyre when the bike is upright. The other ends should be then be either side of the front wheel, as the front tyre is smaller than the rear there should be a gap each side. Any difference between the distance between the wood and the front tyre indicates miss-alignment.
