Did anyone ride through the cabbie strike today?

Looks like there's plenty of space for a bike - so why did the Po-po close the streets? - Victoria and Parliament Square.

Another reason to ride a bike in London. And it's fun.

To stop any more revolting cabbies getting there, I expect, but why would they stop two wheelers of any sort?

So this is basically taxi drivers bawwing about someone providing a cheaper alternative to them?

Not really no. It is about Black Cabs getting pissed off with the amount of regulations being broken on a daily basis by Mini-Cab operators and being ignored by TFL. Street touting is a huge problem where I live at the weekends, with a sting you would probably get over 300 touters for the 3 nights but TFL doesn't bother to have regular stings so it has become a normal thing.

Oh so they may actually have a point then? Shame for them. For some reason it still doesn't trigger my sympathy gland.

I was stuck in that sh1t. I do sympathise with them in some ways - they have to spend a lot of time and money to go through 'The Knowledge' and earn their right to run a taxi in London - whilst someone else [who hasn't done 'The Knowledge'] has registered with Uber and can start taking fares straight away (albeit in a slightly different way)

That said, I had no sympathy for the f'ckers this morning.

My belief is that it can be running but it must be propelled on foot, as the offence is specifically of "riding" [HA 1835 S72] or "driving" [ibid. and RTA 1988 S34]. Don't sit on it and no cheeky knocking it into gear and walking beside it using the clutch. If you're pushing it past a copper I'd turn it off though and perhaps even ask first rather than being given a fingering. Tut Tut

This is based on my understanding of the situation with the Severn bridge, with motorway restrictions and a foot/pedal path that Learners have to use. Although pedalists are bawwwing about bikers just riding along the foot/pedal path. Wink

Workmate just got reversed into by a Glasgow minicab. Rolled right up on top of his front wheel, mate bailed off the bike and it just stood up with the car pinning it down. Cabbie got out and started jabbering (accent as reported) "Why you no use horn! Is your fault! You pay to fix!"

Might have got interesting if two Scotplods hadn't stepped out of the car in front and told him to stow it and make with his license and insurance. Thumbs Up
