Hi, I've just bought myself a 50cc 2-stroke moped and I noticed there were some bolts missing. I have attached some photos of the missing bits and wanted to see what you guys think about that. Could that be potentially dangerous/risky for both the life of the moped and my own one, or are there any other issues this may cause?
Also, this may sound very stupid(first moped I've ever bought) but I am not entirely sure whether I need to mix the oil with the petrol or pour it down the compartment I've shown in the photos. There is a compartment, which I think is explicitly related to the use of oil, but I wasn't sure if I had to pour it in there, or in the reservoir where the petrol goes. I have also attached some photos of that, in case you didn't get what I was trying to say!
Also, I spotted a little hose coming out from somewhere around the engine and wasn't sure what that was, so if you could shed some light on that too, I'd very much appreciate it!
Thank you very much in advance!! |

Well, I would put the bolts there, take one out, buy a bucket full of the same ones. No need to buy specific bolts made (used) by the company that made the scooter. The missing bolts are from all sorts of covers, so I don't think it's dangerous, but then, I would put some bolts there.
The oil/petrol caps, not sure at all. If it's a two stroke, then it's possible. Telling us what scooter you've got could help.
The hose is probably carburetor drain line or overflow. Or even a the battery overflow, if you run the classic/old type of battery, that requires you to check the level of electrolyte. ____________________ '87 Honda XBR 500, '96 Kawasaki ZX7R P1, '90 Honda CB-1, '88 Kawasaki GPz550, MZ 150 ETZ

We like guessing games, but it might be more helpful for you if you told us the make, model and year.
I'm guessing it's Direct Bikes Bling-a-Ding Chavped. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Oh dear, please let this be another troll. It has to be because everyone and his cat knows that if the manufacturers could get away with using 6 bolts less, then the bike would have 6 bolts less.
Therefore I am going to presume you'd better get some bolts in before the thing that was bolted in with the bolts that are missing suddenly goes missing because the bolts were missing. ____________________ Triumph Trophy Launch Edition |
