Hornet 2008 not firing, how to get into diagnostic mode?

As stated in title, my mates hornet won't fire, only thing we changed was right engine casing, which has the pick up point attached to it.

We put it all back together and there's no movement in the fixing of the pick up point, so it can't be that it's moved. Just wondering if anyone knows how to get the bike into diagnostic mode?

Silly question is something covering the pick up since you reinstalled it? From memory it sits and picks up from the rotor going round. The only thing that can go wrong is wiring/pick up itself or the magnets on the rotor.

Cheers for reply, I've had the cover off a couple more times and checked it over, nothing's covering the pick up. And I've moved it about it he .002mm it can and no difference.

I've been told about a Zener diode that sometimes goes in these, but wherever I look it's all a bit hush hush and no one actually says how to fix it!

The diode is in the ignition switch, it puts 9v back to the ECU, if that is missing then the ECU will not trigger the coils. You'll need the wiring diagram to find which lead it is and which pin on the ECU. I did a few quite time ago so memory has faded. I just jumped a 9v zenner from the switched ECU supply into the ECU connection for the ignition sensor.
