Hi guys posting on behalf on a friend.

Bought a Honda express nc50 1979 few weeks back ran perfectly started up first time ran out of fuel a couple of days ago and filled it up again but now it won't start and doesn't seem to even have a intention of starting what can it be? We have pulled carb off cleaned it check filter, points but nothing is up with them just strange that it was running without any issues and now it won't even fire up has a good spark too and carb is spotless

Thanks

points set correctly? is the condensor still connected correctly?
replace the spark plug, im not sure how many times now ive had a decence spark from a plug outside the engine, but under compression wont run,
i have to change my lawnmower plug atleast twice a year,
2 strokes are notorious for eating plugs

Hi yes have tried new plug the point seem fine they weren't messed about with only checked them for being burnt but there fine. As for condenser is that the thing attached to coil? If so would it still spark if that was faulty? Just its been ran for a few weeks without one hiccup and now it won't start after running out of petrol not been hashed either as it was bought from a bike collector who always stored it without fuel for it going off.

It screams of "bit of shit from empty tank blocking the fuel system" so I'd definitely be ruling that out before touching anything else.

Yes getting fuel its actually filling up the float chamber was leaking out overflow,a lot but that's why I took carb off and cleaned it and it's fixed that.

Just find it strange that it's been running fine as I driver about street and been running fine going to take flywheel off tomorrow and see points and see if th need adjust d although they shouldn't as never been touched

Will update tomorrow with news Smile also will upload some pictures as it's a really nice bike got a1980 malaguti moped coming next week too which is going to be sweet Smile

With the carb leaking as it filled up the engine with petrol. Take the plug out kick it over see if any petrol comes out of the plug hole.
malaguti is it one with pedals not seen one for ages.

Yes forgot to mention that when spark plug is out and you kick it over petrol comes out hole allot

Malaguti has a kickstart buddy it's 80s model and going by the years it's the 79/80s they started doing kickstart models had a Peugeot 103 moped pedal start a few weeks back but ended up selling as person who owned it wasn't able to kick it reason got express as it was easy to start lol nice little bikes I have to admit and the only older bikes I've really been into is vintage motocross. Malaguti is getting picked up this week by bike courier and delivered next so will be uploading some pictures clean for age not seen another one yet in the UK for sale
