Hi all, i am looking to buy 125 cc motorcycle but idk which one, Honda cbr125 is not so good in looking especially the rear tire so thin, yamaha are expensive so no.
Any opinions about hyosung gt 125 or Hyosung gtr 125 ?
I heard they are really slow, have bad acceleration.
What would you recommend me, and what are your opinions on Hyosung gt/r 125 what are the good and bad points ?
Any owners of aprilia rs125 ? opinions short reviews? and is it possible to make aprilia rs125 sound a bit better cuz sound is worst than scooter
My budget £1200 and i want something to ride around everyday, i want something reliable not anything chinesse or so ever. I want nice looking, sounding, and reliable 125cc anyone ?
Which 125cc bike you had and what are your opinions on it

Thanks,

I had the YBR-125 and can't fault it... other than the fact it was a 125 and therefore slow, obviously. Good quality used ones have got to be worth considering, why buy a new one you might end up dropping anyway. You'd probably get something five to ten years old in good condition in your budget if you looked around closely.

Have you had (past tense) any experience with chinese bikes that has made you of this opinion or are you generalizing and going with "the crowd" in the general ill informed opinion that all chinese bikes are bad?

It's my understanding that UK part support is next to non existent as they stopped importing the bikes into the UK at one point, I also understand they are in the process of a return or was.. either way you have more chance of winning the lottery than being able to source OEM parts (or possibly parts in general).

I assume therefore a lot of "compatibility checks" with parts for other bikes are needed to keep them running.

2 Stroke race bike.

General opinion is Honda CBF / Honda Vardero 125.

..

Arrow 125cc = 15kw (A1)

Shiny plastics, aftermarket exhaust, mods galore.. 15kw is always the end result.

How old are you.. DAS?

See this? https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=303405

Your thread, in the Workshop, about your "2009 hyosung gt 125 comet".

Why are you asking about a bike that you say that you own?

A CBF125 can be picked up with your budget.

From my experience with my 09 one I can confirm that it's reliable, I have never had any issues with it and it's 96% rust free.

Acceleration? Beats any car off the lights I assume most other bikes would.

I ride mine more or less everyday, handles the London roads just fine in 3rd/4th.

Seeing as you're fussed about the rear tyre. A 120/80-17 will get on the back of it and it looks thicker than the stock.

Sounds deep & throaty with a Danmoto Carbon GP system if you're fussed with the sound. Gets a LOT of attention too. It's a bit loud to say the last. You'll get used to it though.

I'm still with my good old DR125 from 2009 - it might be a sluggish abomination according to a certain admin on this thread (naming no names of course). It's reliable and gets me to work, although it's all 30/40 roads which I use so well within the limits of the bike.

They are importing them back into the country. Startright motorcycles have a good stock of parts. I never had problems sourcing parts when I had mine.

And only problems was clogged up carbs and a corroded ignition wire. I'm glad to say the new ones look a lot better built. They aren't Honda quality (minus the cbf which is shockingly made) but they are not Chinese tat.

get a ybr or a modern cg,
u dont need a race replica bike, they use the same engine as the ybr and cg but cost x2 as much?
having plastic fairings doesn't make u faster on a 125

Why do you say cbf is shockingly made Confused
I was about to decide and look for some good cbf but all of them looks like pizza delivery bikes, i found one that looks nice because it has like lower side panels
https://mco-d1-p.mlstatic.com/pechera-ninja-honda-cbf125-fibra-de-vidrio-color-original-1489-MCO4186919240_042013-F.jpg

Where would i be able to get such panels and how much Confused
Im thinking of getting cbf with such panels or if not i will just by some scooter up to 400£ and then collect money for some geared one Sad i dont want scooter i feel like pu*** on it xD lame no gears just pull throttle and go

We've also seen multiple reports of fuel pump problems on the early bikes, and bikes burning through their oil and seizing within their 2,500 mile service interval.

Actually the Hyosungs have a really rather nice v-twin making (or claiming) bang on the 11kW limit.

Twice the downpipes to rust and seize in the heads, twice the CCTs to snap though.

The current ones do look to have come down in price a little. £2600 + OTR for the GT125 and £3000 + OTR for the plastic one is a few hundred less than their peak under E P Barrus. I still wouldn't touch them though until they sort the spares situation - by which I mean new parts at reasonable prices.

Hmm so looks like i wont decide for CBF, so i need to decide for different now.
The only thing in Hyosung gt 125 i had was that the swing arm was getting corroded and that it was slow and hard to get parts in reasonable price [or overall get parts] but other than that i think i liked all in that bike
cg 125 looks bad so i wont decide for this one im sure
YBR looks like mix of cross bike and sport bike and its too small

So all you are interested in is how your bike looks.

Have you ridden a bike before?

Yes i rode GTR 125 hyosung, it looked good i liked everything in that bike [except speedo it wasnt showing true speed quickly like you accelerate and it shows with delay] and it was slow too and hard to get parts
I want the bike to look nice [sporty look] and sounds nice, and to have faster acceleration [obviously i dont expect from 125cc to be super fast [except aprilia but it sounds bad expensive parts and lot of maintenance] but it should have nice acceleration to easily catch up with traffic
From what i can tell Hyosung is bad at acceleration but it catches up easily after 20 to 45mph but first 0-20 [without revving engine so much is bad]

You still haven't (or I haven't seen) a response to my prior question regarding your "don't want chinese shite init" opinion.

When you could have a "brand new" chinese bike (including OTR charges) for under £1000 and still have change left over why are you entertaining the idea of a Hyosung after you've been told parts (where available) are hard to get hold of.

I went lexmoto for many reasons (ok I chose the slowest bike) but with parts available (for the most part) for next day delivery to your address it saves the hastle of needing to go through a dealership, wait and then pay a premium.

Take a look:

You'll not find much difference in speeds between all of the different 125s.

With the exception of twist and go scooters, which will probably be a bit quicker off the line

What do you guys think about cagiva ? i think its similar to aprilia rs125

All learner legal 125s are slow. Even the expensive ones covered in plastic.

https://images.cmsnl.com/img/models/yamaha-tz125_big00016822_2846.jpg
That is a 1980 Yamaha TZ125 'Over-The-Counter' Grand-Prix bike.
You couldn't get more 'sporty'.
As 125's go, its also genuinely 'fast'.
Actually, as ANY bikes go, its actually genuinely 'fast'
Its a genuine 130mph motorcycle, and ISTR in a shoot-out Performance Bikes did many many years ago, about the time the Fire-Blade was Launched; set faster lap-times than the gaggle of hot-snot, big displacement street-bikes they took along.

Oh, shit, what am I talking about.. hopws can that possible be 'fast'? LOOK at those tyres! Seen fatter rubber on a push-bike! Rolling Eyes

ACTUALLY, kid, those 'skinny' tyres are one of the reasons that bike CAN go 130mph. Power = Force x Speed... force in question is drag; drag is wind resistance and road resistance; narrower the tyre, less rolling resistance, so for the same power you get more speed.

Also help in the wet, especially on a super-lightweight bike. Less tyre on the road, the less distance water has to be shifted from under it to find the road to grip; smaller area of tyre also means that the weight spread over that smaller area gives a higher gripping pressure...

So, narrow tyre, = more speed, less fuel consumption, better grip, better wet weather grip...

So why do they fit fat tyres to modern bikes?

'cos otherwise fashion victims like you wont buy the fucking things! Rolling Eyes

However, its all utterly accademic. What we think are good Learner-Bikes, what the mags say are good learner bikes; what is listed in the Used Buyers Guides, means fuck-all, unless there is actually a real one FOR SALE... and THEN whatever we, the mags or the guides say about that model, mean even LESS compared to what state the actual individual example sat in front of you is actually in!

Every-one raves about Veradaros... and tends to slate Generic chinky Bikes.... BUT, if you had Bunny-Guards clapped out, sprocket welded 'heap' of a Vera, in front of you.. and a brand new Lexmoto.. shouldn't take a brain surgeon to figure out which is the 'better' bike!

GET OFF THE NET - GET ON Y'BIKE!

Go find one. A REAL one. In the REAL world! Make your own mind up whether its any good or not!

Aprilia 2-strokes sounding bad Laughing And now you're thinking about a Cagiva 2-stroke Laughing

Also, you want a sporty bike but think CBR125s look crap? At the end of the day they're all 125s. They all do pretty much the same, Japanese ones may go a bit quicker than Chinese and they'll always be cooler.

Have you checked insurance costs for any of these bikes?
