yamaha dt 125 93 not starting

long story short bike ran fine then it got stolen, got the bike back and it wont start, electrics are intact im getting no spark at all, check the kill switches (side stand) seem fine with a continuity meter, got a brand new plug, its turning over nicely but no spark at all. i pulled the side cover off generator and all looks ok in there but no tests done, as its turning over i can hear a ticking etc but no spar can anybody tell me what to test next and how to please

Just a thought. have you checked the ignition key switch, or the connector block that it goes to? maybe the gits that stole it did the usual bypass the switch to get it going, and then disabled it the same way.

it has had a replacement ignition barrel now, got a new one. the electrics minus the head light are ok condition wise, im going to have to go through the process of changing parts,

does anyone know what the test procedure on the stator on the dt would be

Probably a CDI unit issue. The CDI unit could have been fried when the thief tried to hotwire the ignition key switch. Or was the original key a security transponder key? If so then the new ignition barrel and key may need to be recoded with the old CDI, or all replaced together. This may be a security feature to prevent people hot wiring it.

I had this problem once on an old Peugeot Speedfight of mine. Some scrote one tried to hotwire it but were unsuccessful since the key, barrel and CDI was of the coded transponder type. Since the thief managed to savage to the lock barrel in the process I had to get the lot replaced at considerable expense!
