What I'm looking for is...

...a matrix board to fit on the back of the bike so I can put up preset messages, such as 'back off'. Expect the messages to be preset off the bike and selected by switch on bars (police ones already have this).

Just want to try and wire something like this, partly to see if I can do it and the other excuse is a friend wants me to follow her while she practices (instructor like ).

1st, I know stuff like this is available but where from and how much. Is it something I could get it from Sonic who do the police bike electrics (don't know if they sell to joe-public)?

2nd, would something like this be legal (assuming red leds here)?

3rd, I'd like to use it as a high level brake light as well.

Anyone out there who can point me in the right direction? Might not go anywhere as money always needed for other things but it'd be nice to have the info.

You can buy T shirts with these on, not sure if they are programmable however. I did a GCSE systems and control project on this subject, and I don't think you are going to get one that is the right size to be put on the bike, perhaps velcro it to your back or a rucksack. Probably ilegal? just remember to check your mirror before you use it
