Hi all,
Had a bit of a problem on the ride home this afternoon, did my usual starting process (tickle carb, choke on, no throttle, kick, idle OK, pull away, gradual choke off) but tonight the bike didn't want to run with the choke completely off - it still needed about 1/5th. Less than this it would die, more than this the engine bogged down. More than about 3/4 throttle and it starts getting a bit lumpy.
Was no problem this morning, choke was fully off after a minute or so and throttle responded well. Only difference is the temperature was about 10 degrees this morning, and maybe 15 this afternoon.
I've not had a chance to go out and tinker yet, but any pointers where I should first start looking? Carb is an MK1 Amal Concentric, pod filter, bike is a 2007 Enfield Electra X (AVL). ____________________ Chances are quite high you are not in my Monkeysphere, and I don't care about you. ......aye........the fuel/air mix is out for some reason, could also be a bit of grit in one of the jets or crud from the tank. Check nobody has fiddled with the air screw or, as it's an Enfield..it hasn't vibrated loose or sommat ____________________ Space Is Deep |

Given that the dumping of the standard airbox means the carb is only supported at one end now, it does sound likely that it may have vibed loose. The more I ride this bike, the more I believe the previous owner just made mods to it and polished it, and never rode the thing at all ____________________ Chances are quite high you are not in my Monkeysphere, and I don't care about you.
