 |
|
Hi folks,
Was just out riding when I got loads of rain on my visor. Discovered that if I open the visor, then slam it shut quite sharply most of the rainwater falls off.
Did it every now and then at lights etc, worked quite well. ____________________ Yamaha SZR660 Caution to the wind, the throttle pinned! |

Swivelling your neck to point the helmet away from forwards so that the wind blows the water off the sides works too, but I find not at less than 50 or so mph.
Sounds like a good idea though, giving the visor a shake.
(It's just a pity it takes me forever to get into neutral and flip the visor.) ____________________ I must not be a troll...

I tend to stick to the tried and tested turning my head to one side, and slowly turning it back and all the droplets of rain rush off with the wind. Not recommended on busy roads though
Your idea is useful though, I will bear it in mind. |

Yeah when i wipe my visor with my leather gloves it usually smears this white stuff on the lens that makes it a lot worse. ____________________ Yamaha SZR660 Caution to the wind, the throttle pinned! |

I use the side to side motion too. Seems to work OK for me. I have a pair of gloves with little windscreen wiper bits on the thumbs but they're too damn cold for the winter. ____________________ Current bike: VTR1000F Firestorm. Go about 150mph that does the trick. You can get some stuff that wipe on the visor before you go out which repels the rain and it rolls off very easily. It's surprisingly effective. It was something like this, not this brand but you get the idea.

I fancy inventing some small mechanical wipers. ____________________ Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it.
