Garage floor paint

I'm painting my garage concrete floor this weekend. Any recommendations on paint?

I'd use an epoxy floor coating

Something that'll repel oil and be a bit hardier than paint.

I got some leyland heavy duty stuff from b&q.

Went down great and not too pricey, got enough to do 2 coats and it came up a lot better than i thought it would.

I didnt really prep the floor either, just washed it over with a bucket of soapy water and a mop, waited til it was dry swept it over with a brush and then it went straight down, how long it will last i dont know, but seems pretty durable so far, been about 2 months since doing it.

meh.....i just used white masonry paint......yeah some bits have faded and come off after 3 years but its easy to touch up when i can be bothered to do it.

if you haven't i really recommend that you pain the whole garage white including the ceiling as it brightens the place as the light bounces around

I find floor paint very medieval now days. Even at work, we have interlocking floor matting around most of the machines etc.

Garage at home, carpet, or the floor matting, every time.

My approach:
Grey for the floor,
white for the walls... Gets rid of the awfully shodowy nature of garages...
Still badly lit though... could do with some more lighting...

if you need lighting especially if your working at night buy 2 rechargeable big led torches they work really well especially if you have white walls and ceiling as the light bounces around and lights up the place
i shine my 2 torches at an angle up at the ceiling and it like i have full lighting in the garage

The tiles linked are foam iirc, how do they stand up to a car being parked on them?

Thought about doing this a few times but car had so far put me off.

Plasfloor plastic tiles.

I've not done the whole garage yet, but did buy a couple of sqm a year ago (where has the time gone!) to have a good look at it. Seems decent enough and is wearing okay where I roll the bike trolley over it. Adds some insulation when lying or kneeling on the floor working on oil changes etc.

Not sure how we got on to lighting. But as we are. This is why torch owners care about whether a torch can "tailstand" or not. I've got a TK35UE (£100 torch) that can light up a hall or garage from pitch black to daylight by leaving it pointed at the ceiling and turning it on. It renders the spotlights I bought for working in the garage useless.

Joined this thread a bit too late to help, but if anyone else does decide to paint a garage floor, can I suggest that you also buy a small bag of washed sand. The type that's sold for posh kiddies sand pits. When the paint is still 'tacky' fling a few handfuls of that across it to give it a little extra grip for wet shoes/tyres etc. I know proper garage floor paint is supposed to be slightly rubberized but when wet it can be a bit slippery especially with a bit of oil etc on it.

When the paint is fully dry/hardened then you'll need to brush the floor to get rid of any excess sand.
