Went for a wonder up to local dealers today and spent the afternoon test riding various touring type bikes. I tried a VFR800 Crosstourer, Triumph Tiger Sport 1050 then a 2010 VFR1200, within minutes this was the one so have traded in my CBR650F.
Pick it up on Saturday, comes with full colour coded luggage and is white.
Very glad to get rid of my old brand new bike, not ever buying a new bike again, too scared to scratch the bleeding thing. This VFR is a bit like the CBR650F but with a smooth as silk engine and feels real quality.
This is bike.

Lovely bike
What was it about the VFR that you prefer over your CBR? ____________________ Previous Ride's - '01 Aprilia SR125 (Sold) '08 HONDA CBF600n (Sold) '96 CB500 (Sold) '01 FZS 1000 (Sold) '06 CB1300SA (Sold) '07 CB600F Hornet (Sold) - '93 Suzuki Savage LS400 (Sold) '98 Honda VTR1000 Firestorm (Sold) '05 CB600F Hornet (Sold) '01 FZS1000 Fazer (Sold) 2016 Harley Davidson Street Bob SE (Sold) '02 Kawasaki ZX9R (Sold) '98 CB600F Hornet (Sold) '04 Suzuki Bandit 1200s (Sold) '13 Yamaha FZ1-N |

I recently test rode the same model, same year and same colour. It was heavy, and I nearly dropped it turning out of a corner, but I still kind of liked it. I'm sure you'll like it.
However, the wife, who was on the back for the test ride, hated it. She was perched up high and exposed to the wind. She found the pegs too far back, so it was hard to keep herself from sliding around on the seat.
I ended up buying a VFR, a 2014 Crossrunner, instead. Still a wonderfully smooth engine, but an upright seating position and more pillion friendly. ____________________ Current: '14 VFR800X Test passed 31/10/12.

It could be argued one ugly bike for sure. I used to think so too but it slowly grown on me.
It has a similar riding position to the CBR650F, similar height, more top heavy though with regard to CoG. The engine is really nice and smooth and sounds nice. It's very easy to ride.
Edit: Also why preferred over CBR is I wanted panniers and the cost of fitting them (OEM) to the CBR (can't recall circa £700) was not much less than upgrade to this bike. This bike build quality is in a different league. My CBR is only a few months old and aven with AC50 galore some corrosion showing on rear shock and some cheapo washers on the bike, not great. CBR engine very buzzy also. VFR has slipper clutch and no chain to oil and clean.
The idea was to use this for wife as pillion, sounds like I didn't think that through, nor try her on it. Oh well.
Got IAM first ride out on Sunday morning, hope my observer can keep up

It's one of those bikes that at first glance I think is ugly... but the more I look at it the more I appreciate it.
I definitely coldn't live with the exhaust but (maybe without the panniers and top box) I think I quite like the styling, especially from the front. It's just something different
Looks like a nice example anyway and main thing is you enjoy it ____________________ Current Bikes / Projects: 1999 Rieju RS1 50

Should definitely get some flashing blue LEDs. I can't think why, but think they'll look really cool on that ____________________ Yamaha RXS 100 > Honda CD 250 > Honda Hornet 600 > Honda CBR 600RR > Yamaha RXS 100 > Kawasaki ZX6R J2 > Yamaha FZ1 |

Yes the white is very loud, bordering vulgar with the panniers. Close up it is pearl effecty thingy and looks nothing like an unpainted fairing. The white paint work is actually very nice.
The bike is shiny, but used shiny if you know what I mean, I'll have no paranoia with cleaning this, jet washer
Roll on Saturday. |
