The only redeeming feature this bike has is that the mirrors will actually work. I can't understand why they'd release the road one with such a low power figure - the 899 has already filled the gap well for those wanting something slightly more road tame than a 180bhp+ litre bike.

It's the bike I've been waiting for honda to make... only 20 times more expensive.

Light weight; did rather wonder about power figure. Maybe it's honest and they are presenting it as a 'blank canvas' for tuners - I believe he R7 had about the same as the R6 when it was released.

Why not just get a (used) fireblade for 1/20th the cost?

You can't compare a motorcycle with factory open exhaust and this, which is full of restrictions to be ECO friendly. The sports kit makes it a 90's specs bike, with no ECO and noise nonsense. Thumbs Up

I wonder how much less you would spend to get a nice trick frame and bodywork wrapped up around an old VF1000R engine. It would have the same gear drive noises, and probably be a better bike for road use too.

This reminds me of the old RC45, but it aint as pretty and is even less worth lusting over IMO.

Now the Ducati Desmocedici is another thing all together, if for nothing else than the wank value! Laughing

They do sound awesome compared to an IL4 though.

They do?

Even one setup to have the same firing order as a traditional inline four compared to the big-bang R1s?

I'm not sure about the setup, but I can definitely hear a difference between a VFR at full chat and a CBR. The V engine just has more low-down thrum compared to the inline's high-strung wail.

Not that either of them sound bad, if i'm honest. Very Happy I prefer the Vs though....

Many factors, including that the VFR800 IS a tourer.

I'd say these sound more 'twinny' than most V-fours I hear on track.

Why does it have a bumhole exhaust and a side exhaust? Is it simply, shortest path, least amount of metal and weight?

Should do.

Weirdly -if those photos are accurate- it'll fire two cylinders at a time on opposing strokes, so it's effectively a double v-twin...

Why's that? What about one setup with the exact same firing order, presuming the R1 doesn't have that?
