Just bought one of these as an additional camera recently (cancelled the knock-off order and re-ordered a genuine one, thanks for the warning Wr ). I don't intend to helmet mount this one so i'm not sure what its like for that, but in terms of what you get for your money its very good .
Some of the older Drift models are decent too, particularly if you wouldn't mind a 720 definition one instead of 1080? I like the shape of them for helmet mounting as they have a bit more of a slim profile. Currently using a Drift HD720 on my helmet which I got new for £100 about a year ago. |

I've checked the other thread I like the sound of the bullet cameras as there isn't something massive sticking out. but if there isn't any for the same price around the SJ then I'll probably go for that
Thanks for the input. |

I think it's a much older model so may not be as good. If you want smaller sized than the 4000 for a little more £ the M10 they do is the exact same cam in a smaller housing. |

Have a look at that, and the Drift Stealth 2 is within your budget, as are some of the Sony action cams.
I use a AS100v when I can be bothered, when I use it nothing happens, when I don't then either some moron pulls out or I see something nice/unusual |

I second Contour Cameras- there is one that has a GPS on it to record the location & speed of your ride...again very good for evidence collection.
I shot a series using this camera-here's a link to the camera I'm suggesting.(it should load on 3.55s- where I talk about the camera)

Ah, Contour have resurrected themselves. Good stuff.
Nope, poor review.
https://www.techmoan.com/blog/2013/12/29/sj2000-helmet-cam-letting-the-family-down.html
I have an SJ1000 which has performed well, but the power microswitch has now disconnected from the PCB after a year of daily use - perhaps 500 heavy presses through the waterproof case. I've welded the sprocket on bodged a solution, but it's a design problem (the button has more travel than the switch), and other owners have reported it.
I'm not aware of the SJ4000 having similar issues, but I'd sound a note of caution about trusting to their QA and longevity.
If SJCAM want to send me an SJ4000 to test, I'll be happy to do so. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

They're obsolete now, but if you can find one a Vivitar DVR480 works well as a daily use insurance job camera. Works in all weathers, takes rechargeable AAA batteries and any old SD card, and has a realistic one hour recording time, the batteries will last a lot longer than that but after an hour or more the .avi file hits the fat32 file size limit.
I've used two, front and rear for a couple of years now on a daily basis. For around thirty quid a piece you can't go wrong. ____________________ They're coming to take me away, ho-ho, hee-hee, ha-haaa, hey-hey,

( I am a consumer..not a seller!)Contour went bust about 2 years ago(but resurfaced within 1 month)- The UK arm have always been great and stable!- ..I was in contact with the Contour UK side about 1 week ago..asking for advice on a product not related to them..they came back straight away...as an end user..the cameras work well. whether or not you submit all details to Authorities..is entirely upto you...but its there for YOUR benefit! ____________________ Bike trip through Europe! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2yTtFPM7Xc |
