My boy has just bought a bike and when he's gone to insure it the reg don't match the bike. How do i go about checking it ?

I suspect this is unlikely to turn out well. If this is some bargain Gumtree bike, meet me at Asda, can't find the V5 mate, I'll send it on though, then I would (seriously) try and get through the denial, anger, bargaining, depression and go straight on to acceptance.
