So, after posting a video link of an encounter I had while on a ride in the "what grinds my gears today" topic and not getting karma bummed I just wanted to get the opinions of different people regarding moto vlogs and biking videos in general.

I get the feeling that the general forum opinion is that moto vlogs are disliked and wondered if that was down to the person making the videos or the topic as a whole.. also does the sample apply to my below interest.

I'm interested in starting to upload some short clips of things I encounter while riding (just to get more use out the gopro) and wanted to gather some feedback before I do, I'm not planning to spam the forum with links or attempt to advertise the channel I upload them to, simply to leave anyone to discover them on their own.

So.. is there a right way to go about making biking videos?

(Just interested in not making the mistakes and getting a bad reputation that others seem to encounter).

Hate them with a passion. Nearly all whiney self absorbed cunts that should be paying attention to the road not talking into a mic.

If you must do vlogs, do something nobody else does. Because if someone else has done it, so have hundreds of other vloggers have done it and most likely they are all as boring as the next.

Good luck being original Thumbs Up

My idea of uploading "encounter" videos isn't original but is somewhere to start, as it stands I don't have an interested in vlogs just wanted to gather the opinion of people before I so much as had the idea to go down that route.

Noted.. I declined a bluetooth headset for this reason, need as few distractions as possible.

What new and original content can you honestly show us? The thing that fucks me off is that those of us who ride daily encounter some pretty incredible things. Yet do we feel the need to provide commentary, capture on our Drift/GoPro, edit, upload and show the world? No.

Plus the world isn't interested. Why would I want to watch someone elses riding on a bog standard B road? Plus every single Vlogger thinks they are the most interesting person alive.

Gah, just don't bother mate. Don't waste your time. Enjoy riding and forget it.

Please.

We don't need another Vlogger. Sick .

If its purely filming somewhere/something particularly interesting (generally travel videos abroad), i'll watch the odd few vlogs occasionally.

The standard ones that are someone riding around town, tutting and head-shaking at everything and everyone, whilst talking about tedious bollucks should have their cameras confiscated and face harsh prison sentences for clogging up the internet Thumbs Up

The others can do one.

I don't mind as long as it's not one of those trouble seeking self-righteous pri⊂ks, whiny bit⊂hes or traffic copper wannabes.

I randomly watch them if they appear in my youtube feed and I get interested. Today in example I watched this and I liked it..

If you've got a long term owner's review* of a bike, I'm interested to hear.

If you're out for a ride and blurting whatever inane shite comes into your feeble mind, you can fuck right off.

* Not a 2 minute video of you walking around a stationary bike, turning the ignition on and starting it at 1:30 and finishing by holding the camera/phone next to the exhaust. That's NOT a review, you can fuck right off too.

I just stole the bits that I agree with and echo my own thoughts.

It was a 'learned' hatred for me - I wouldn't have had an issue if they weren't without fail created and presented by irksome, clueless twats.

Ok, the basic concept is pretty shaky too, actually - but then if they'd presented their 'blog' in a sensible format, such as written down, they'd probably understand the excrement that was dribbling out of their mouths and not try to expose it to the rest of the world!

Overall, it's a good indication the person in question isn't really interested in bikes.

A short clip to illustrate a point is illustrative.

Trying to make a point of a video, not so much.

I like them.
I especially like ones in warm sunny countries cos its nice to see some sun even if its only on the screen.
Bikings my hobby.I like to ride bikes, read about bikes, watch videos about bikes.
Some are cocks but there's quite a few I like.
I like cager on two wheels and cyclecruza.
Cager tests a lot of bikes out and I find him likeable.Cyclecruza is a bit of a stereotype American but he entertains me and I don't take him too seriously.
I often browse around when I cant get out on the bike. You can find some entertaining stuff if you sift through the crap.

MotoVlogging sucks the life out of motorcycling. That's the shortest way to cover how I feel about it. Normally I'd go into an expletive laden rant about how they take something inherently exciting and destroy it, but I can't be bothered right now.

Roadcraftnottingham is the only one I really appreciate. The others Ive seen might have one or two good, informative or funny bits but drag on and are boring.

Tracks, off-road, SMIDSY's and spectacular foreign climes are acceptable subjects, a 20 minute slog through Milton Keynes to the Spar for a packet of fags and six pack of Tennants is not!

I think Rogerborg, as admin, should have to vet all vlogger's applications to post their videos, before allowing any on BCF Thumbs Up
