mot bike

Hi All,

I am selling my SV and think it sells much better if it has MOT on it .

At the moment it is untaxed and not moted

so I am considering taking one day insurance out to go an mot it.

I would expect it to be no more than £20 or so but the the moment , bike sure wants £50 for 2 days and I pay £190 for 1 year on r6 !!


any ideas on some place that are not a rip off ?

no as the if its taxed it has to be insured law seemed to of killed off the short policies

may be worth getting the mot place to trailer it in themselves for a small fee

mine cost 30 quid for collection when I needed the brakes doing

or do you reckon it is safe to just load it to back of a van and lay it down and drive to the mot center ?

having it on a lean kinda ok as long as not too much, you don't want anything leaking out or leaving signs of leaking before an mot

insurance says no it can not be added.

Do you think mot plays a very important role in selling ?

Yes.

"Has no MOT but will fly through, innit bruv". OK, so why not prove it and get it done? Make an effort if you really want to sell it. Also, if it is MOTed I can ride it home, rather than having to faff about with a van, Shiply or risk an illegal ride.

Sure, sell it without an MOT but as a buyer I will look at it as a non-runner and price it accordingly.

Have you asked at the local bike shop/MOT place if they will collect it?

One of the little back street guys (complete with oily overals) that used to operate near me was more than happy to come and collect a bike and drop it off later for a small fee.

Of course they'll still do it anyway, because 95% of the time they'll get away with it.

I moted and insured my second car so will tow it using my trailer.

just the bike was an excuss which was justified:)

Hertz 24/7 van hire, they're at Ikea, Costco and B&Q. Hire by the hour, I think I paid about £35 for three hours hire and couldn't fault it, van had about 3000 miles on the clock.

or you could be very naughty and just ride with no insurance/tax to mot place and hope you dont crash or get tugged by any anpr police cars

Many van hire companies do special offers. I paid £20 for a day not long back - Enterprise I think it was.

just add the 50 quid onto the selling price you wanted and you end up not paying......magic!
