Just need to pay the storage fees no doubt, I wonder how much that will cost me.

haha, yeah I read that post, such a shame. Looks like we are stuck with the bill as a victim of crime.

So just talked to the crime Squad or whatever they are called.

He tells me I am not liable for the costs and the insurance company, I asked him to put it in writing, and he quickly retreated. Then when I questioned everything he was saying as it didn't sound correct and he got the hump with me and said I was very difficult to talk to All I wanted to do was get the answers straight into my head and we were nearly arguing on the phone, they don't like being wrong I can tell you.

But he tells me that the insurance company will pay the costs and repair of the bike, very nice of him to tell me that as it sounds like he has no clue on what insurance companies are like. And especially if my excess is £500

Actually, does anyone know if TPF&T insurance covers costs, repairs and losses? I expect I will need to ask my insurance company about it, but any of you have experience in this?

Wouldn't that £500 be better spent towards allowing a trusted local garage to fix your bike (dependent on level of damage) as well as not having the hastle to declare the claim for however many quotes in the future.

On the subject of claims.. wouldn't it be a waste of time at this point as usually if one was to be made it would be at the point the bike was stolen and witch point the insurance company would recover and keep the bike and provide you with a payout.

I'm no expert but all I can say for sure is that since this was a theft that £500 wouldn't be seen again as there's no one to recover the charges from if they paid out.

As I see it insurance is simply there as a legal requirement to put you on the road and shouldn't be given a penny more than required.

Get that bike out of storage as soon as possible and asses the damage yourself, and then if required get a quote form local garages.

IMO mr plod can't tell you anything the insurance company will or wont pay for, it's the same as someone admitting a crash was their fault.. it's the insurance companies job.

(Oh.. and await further advice from someone who knows a bit more than I do before even phoning the insurance company).

yes your insurance company will cover the costs...and you will then pay for them with increased premiums. If it aint a lot of cash i'd be paying it all myself and not making a claim.

Good luck at the compound... is it Charlton you have to go? if so, 100% make an appointment. A few people were waiting over 2 hours!!!

I didnt claim on my insurance as I only have TPO anyway. No point in claiming for a sub £4k bike if its going to effect NCD or put a mark on you as you will be paying it back anyway!

Thanks for the advise guys, I will way the damage/storage fees to the excess and future premiums and no claims bonus loss.
