If you have been following my posts you will know that I am currently not impressed by the way the Met deal with victims.
Well I recieved this today:
| Quote: | Dear rider,
In April/May 2015, the City of London Police carried out a survey into motorcycle crime in the City, thank you for responding.
The results of the survey are being analysed and will be forwarded to participants for their information.
Initial results suggest that a large percentage of you would use ground anchors or bars to secure your bike when parking in the City. We will provide the results of the survey to the Safer City Partnership, who are in a position to recommend that these are installed.
In the meantime.... as the leaflet we handed out suggested, we are giving away 100 locks and chains to people answering the survey.
And it’s good news! You have been lucky and are eligible to receive an Oxford lock and chain. Although it is better to be able to secure your bike to a solid object, a visual deterrent will dissuade thieves from choosing your bike to steal.
To collect your lock, please attend Wood Street Police Station front office between 10am-12pm Monday-Friday from 22/6/15 to 26/6/15. Please bring a piece of identification.
If you do not wish to claim your lock, or can’t make the above dates, please email.
All the best, and safe riding.

I will be grabbing that next week.. got to claw back some money some how
TL;DR - Done an online survey about motorbiking in London. Won a disc lock. Getting said disc lock due to the met having to fork out for it! |

The Police like others need to have an incentive for people to fill out surveys.
I'm not at all surprised that they chose Oxford locks and chains as the freebie, they got them for less than the cost of a Met-Keyring.
Met would have been better offering a SmartWater sticker.

More secure to fix your bike to a lampost with a sticker than an Oxford. |

The Oxford chain is to go around your ankles while they whip you off in a Serco van.

Funny how they've always got '100' of something to give away

So there are conditions attached... i.e. so long as you don't have an outstanding warrant for a 'motorcycle crime' that they have been 'surveying' ____________________ Current Bikes / Projects: 1999 Rieju RS1 50

Police need crime - their jobs are at stake. The last thing they want is for people to have decent locks and chains.
Perhaps you can go in with a boltcropper and show them how to double the amount of chains they get next time ____________________ If you can keep your head when all about you
