Af1 staring problem.

Hiya
it starts bumoing it soo easy you can literally walk with it and it starts,
it dosnt tick over very well and cuts out if you dont keep a wee bit of throatal on her,
as soon as it cuts out though she will start on the button straght away,
i think it can ethier be the carb settings? or maybe its been converted to bypass the fuel tap could this have anything to do with it,???

Hi

Sounds like the battery is a bit screwed first of all.

The fuel tap on the Sintesi is a total pain. The pipe from it goes over the top of the carb, and if you run the fuel level down to empty then it gets an air bubble in the bend in the pipe on top of the carb. Use clear fuel pipe and it is obvious. Also there is another fuel tap built into the tank, where the pipe connects.

However this should not really affect it idling.

Best thing to do is clean the carb out thoroughly. Suspect it is a bit gummed up from sitting. Also check the air filter.

They normally do not bump start quite that easily so it is probably worth checking the compression. Might well need new rings if it is turning over that easily. Speak to Peter Knight on 0176 141 4106 for engine parts.

The ignition system does not need any battery power to work.

Also sounds like the choke could be ceased on... check for free play in the cable ie make sure it has some. then go from there, if its cold, its a 2 stroke and it starts on the button then it isnt right!!!!!
