Protection.....

Good Evening all.

Long time no post, been a year today since I passed Mod 2 and after finally getting some money saved up I have some new gear.

I'm looking to get a back protector to replace the foam thing they put in the jackets. I cant afford loads but I was wondering what you recomend? I'm around a size 18/20/22 in bike gear because they are all stupidly outsized and having a chest isnt something that the designers think about when making ladies gear. So I'd need something with fit me but without breaking the bank. I've been looking online but so many places, so many designes and makes I have no idea what to look for!

What would you recomend? and where to get it from?

Your best bet would be pop to your local bike shop and see what they have in stock, and try them on. When you find one you find fits well go home and try and find it for a better price online.

I have been into the few places in and close to Norwich but no one had anything that would fit. either too long (because im short) or could not get done up
Should have thought about this when I went to MCN at Peterbrough last month Road trip for me to find somehwere in the area it is then.

Depending on the pocket size in your current kit (or if you can cut the opening slightly like I had to on one jacket), one of
these might be a good budget option?

They come in most RST kit as standard. I had my only crash to date wearing one and it seemed to do a reasonable job, as I landed flat on my back.

I've got rst ladies textiles jacket and trousters that zip together but the back protector at the moment is very foamy and bendable, will measure up when im home to see if id need to make any alterations.

I wore a Knox Metasys for a while and, sure, it gives great protection across the entire back but I stopped wearing it for two reasons.

1. I just got bored with the inconvenience of it.

2. It's chunky enough that I had to wear a jacket a size technically too big to get it over the back protector, which actually left a fair amount of excess material around the sides and front of my jacket.

Eventually I decided to change, so I bought a new jacket in a size that fits properly and used a D3O insert instead, which is much more comfortable and has the same CE2 rating.

Considering buying some Hood jeans with D3O armour in too...

Furygan seem to seeing d30 back protectors as stand alone items but I have only seen them on eBay. I have a few bits of d30 inserts and like the way they fit.

Am considering getting one as it shoudnt be any thicker than the inserts already in my kit, and will protect all the way, whereas my current rst jacket the back protector stops very high.
