I always view ultra low mileage machines with a bit of a jaundiced eye.
For a start, things deteriorate with time, not just use, so you might still have problems associated with it being 17 years old.
There's also a school of thought that the low mileage bike hasn't had a chance to develop it's faults and they lay in wait for the first person that really uses it.
I've seen stuff fall apart like a clown car at the first sign of serious use, simply because everything is still old and it's always been pottered.
Don't get me wrong, old, low mileage bikes can be bargains (that first one isn't cheap though) but low miles aren't a guarantee of fault free ownership.
As an old bike fanatic myself, if I were buying something for daily usage, I would look for something that's already had a bit of a life; at the right price, that second bike is probably a better bet and as Polarbear says, the luggage is definitely a bonus. ____________________ Things get better with age; I'm close to being magnificent........

I'd ask if the seller has the old MOTs the back the mileage up. It looks like someone's spent a bit of money tarting it up to me, hence the highish price. Photos are no substitute for a viewing in the flesh, sometimes they make the bike look better.....sometimes worse.
Plenty other good buys out there, whatever you decide, don't rush in
How about one of Tefs favourites...a CB Seven Fifty, not a million miles from the Divvy and you'd get a mint one for £1200. ____________________ Space Is Deep |

Thanks for the advice, I have a full license now, Shaft that bike is great looking, I have a preference for the older non painted engines. they look so much nicer. ____________________ 07 Yamaha YBR125, 07 Honda CG125 , 15 CBR300R (Chocolate Crank, Deaded), 16 CB500FA, 19 Honda Forza 300, 70 Suzuki SV650 |

Oooo. That looks quite nice from the ad. Seems clean, shod with PR3s, heated grips, luggage (not sure why he mentions Wingrack when he only seems to have a top box carrier) already replaced the rotting downpipes with stainless and still has the original endcan for stealth speed.
I've owned both Divvy and CBR6 from the 90's and the CBR is head, shoulders, knees and toes above the Yam. Buy it. ____________________ 2007 CBF1000 & 2016 CBF1000F - Commuter heaven | 1994 CBR600FR - Awaiting defibrillation |
