hi folks

i need to sell my honda shadow 125 but could do with some advice as it's all new to me

do you allow test rides only if they show fully comprehensive insurance doc?

what payment methods to accept. should you be wary of fake cash notes ?
if its anything else do you tell them the bike stays where it is until you're sure its in your account

is there anywhere to get price guides as i'm not sure what its worth.
what to put in ad, disclaimers?
any help appreciated

Don't want to hijack the thread at all, but what are peoples thoughts on people leaving their car/bike keys as a deposit for a test ride?

Doesn't necessarily have to be fully comp, I only have 3rd party and I am able to ride other bikes with permission.

I've sold a few bikes over the years and never let anyone ride anywhere without paying for it. I don't mind taking them on the back but I'm not sure you're legal to do this....and anyway, most 125s aren't great two-up.
You can test the engine, gearbox, suspension and electrics to a satisfying degree without moving the bike.

You do right to do a bit of research. The arseholes flood out of the woodwork when you're selling a vehicle sometimes...."joyriders" & "tyrekickers" etc Rolling Eyes

be aware that a lot of policies that allow use of another vehicle cover the rider third party only

so if they do have it on there and they break your bike you still wont get anything

personally I take my other bike and follow them If they want to test ride (but not everyone can do that) bearing in mind the bike im on will keep up with the bike im selling as I normally have a smaller for sale if I sell one

I only take cash as payment and put this in the advert

is it reasonable to assume it's 'sold as seen' without putting it in the ad
don't want to put people off writing it (nowt wrong with the bike), but once sold it's theirs

do i ask for their details and fill it out, or just give it to them and hope they will?
