I'm looking at getting either a tinted or iridium visor for my Shoei Qwest but was wondering if anyone knows of any after market companies that produce visors? £70 for the genuine Shoei iridium ones Shocked

I have a had a look around and came across this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/371342666818?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT but not sure if they'd be any good.

So yeah if anyones got any experience with any it'd be good to hear Thumbs Up

Cheers for that. £45 seems about the best for a tinted one Thumbs Up

Is there any benefit of the iridium visors over a normal tint or is it purely an aesthetic thing?

I second and third that.
Used them a few times. Decent company, decent prices.

The tinted ones for my Shark Speed R seem to be around the £70 mark more or less everywhere... Sad
That's silly money for a visor, doesn't even come with a pinlock insert for that.

If its the iridium one ie looks like a mirror they're not worth it I got one and within 2 months it was ruined its just a very fine sheet on top of a clearish visor so rubs away and scratches easily

I'm looking for a darker visor really. I only really ride when the weathers good and have been finding the flip
down thing a bit ineffective when it's very bright and sunny. It also pisses me off because it can steam up even
when the visor hasn't.

Racevisors.co.uk are a pleasure to deal with.
I think I've bought about 8 visors over the years from these guys, one of them i bought about 4 years ago had a small scratch, i could easily have lived with it but seeing as it was brand new and should have been mint i pinged them an email and they sent me a new one, they told me to keep the other.

A+++ will buy again

Okay thanks for all the suggestions. I think I'll just order one from race visors as everyone seems to rate them well Thumbs Up

I suppose it's better to buy the genuine quality item and know it'll fit and work properly

Another recommendation for racevisors.co.uk, they're fantastic.

I've used them several times. One of the times was when I bought a visor bag/pouch to keep a spare visor safe, except the visor didn't fit, nor did any of the other visors from the 3 other helmets I had. So emailed them and said could I return it in exchange for a different (Pinlock) visor bag and I'd pay the difference which was like £8.

They sent the more expensive one out straight away, arrived the next day, didn't charge me extra and told me to keep/bin the one that was no good and thanks for letting them know they'd look into it.

yea i mind being out with a group on a run, we all had dark tinted visors on bar one rider who had an iridium visor. he got stopped and fined, no one else.
A traffic cop told me its got to do with the prep and iridium coating they put on the visor that weakens them slightly.

Sauce please?

And don't tell me it's a copper who had a Firebusa.

That's your sauce

Traffic cop in question was in our group, had a GSXR 1000. I had no reason to doubt him as he was right about all the speed traps that day and also gave the chap some advice on how to wriggle out of having to pay the fine

I use smoked visors and iridium (gold) all the time and have never been pulled.

I ride IAM with some being ex motorcycle coppers and no ones ever mentioned anything?

I clean my HJC iridium by leaving a wet bit of kitchen roll over it for a while then a general wipe with soapy water and its still looking good.

For that price I'd buy it and see.

Just as an update. I never got round to ordering one but was riding past my local Honda dealer today so thought I'd pop in. They did the genuine visor for just under £40 Thumbs Up

So yeah if anyone's looking for a cheaper visor the local dealer might be worth a shot

Why? I have a helmet without a built in sun visor...I ride in the sun...constantly squinting isn't fun on the bike... Why not get a tinted visor that can be swapped in 10 seconds?

Also my clear visor already has a pinlock in it and the new one is also pinlock ready.

Visor site looks good.

" Please note only the Clear Visors are EC2205 approved "

What does this mean in reference to a visor and not a helmet?

The visor I got today had a big "NOT ROAD LEGAL" Sticker on it. From what I understand it doesn't meet that regulation due to the lower percentage of light the visor allows through (a bit like the legal maximum tint on car windows).

The general consensus seems to be that as long as you aren't doing anything to attract attention in the first place then the police won't bother you. As with all these things though, the majority can get away with it but you could just as easily be pulled the first time you go out with a tinted visor on. Personal choice of whether you're happy to take the chance I guess.

I bought a blue iridium visor from race visors. They're ok until they get scratched and I could never seem to get a decent seal with the pinlock.
I've now changed back to my original clear screen with a ProtecTINT insert, not as good looking but much better vision.

Then just get a tinted pinlock, pinlocks can be changed faster then a visor and less hassle to carry, unless your a clown with a back box or tank bag, just get a damn car, bikes are bikes not haulage machines for storage.

If you can't carry it on your person, then it doens't belong on a bike!

I can swap my visor far far quicker then a pinlock.

Literally no idea what the rest of your point has to do with having a tinted visor
