Data entry/ form thing..?

Right, i work for a manufacturing company an we need software that is capable of producing reports from data entered...

basically, a worker inspects an item, makes notes, attaches images an the software will then create a finished report

anyone know of anything?

You could just use access if you have it.

sort your table structure out, use a simple form that inputs the data into the table.

run queries on the table to report.

What sort of report? What will it be used for, who's the target audience?
Is there a requirement to build a database of reports for analytical purposes?

If all you require is a basic 'printout' of a single report then you may as well just knock together something in Excel. If it's for internal use only then does i matter what it looks like? I reckon clear, clean and simply presented data is more important than a pretty picture myself.

What I would recommend though is you have a properly structured data-entry method. Eg. one cell each for enrty_date, entry_user, entry_time, product_id, batch_id and so on. Create consistency and record the data in a way that can easily be analysed or exported into another product at a later date should the need arise. Be very structured in how you name each workbook, and how you store them. This way you build a 'database' for future development.

simple access database is all that is needed here it looks like.

Unless you are more than 255 users then you should be ok as it doesn't look like it's anything complicated or number intensive.

Libreoffice Base is an opensource variation of M$ access, both can do what you are asking. Database management tools type of thing
