Michelin Pilot Road 2 or Pirelli Angel ST

Hey all, just trying to figure out what tire is better for commuting in the rain and cold of Sweden (with the occasional hard riding blast) on my 1050 Sprint ST. I've read through past posts and have narrowed it down to these two, both of which fit my budget.

Help me decide... Michelin Pilot Road 2 or Pirelli Angel ST

I've used pilot road 2's for a while now on my hornet. I'm a big fan.
I replaced some very old Mezeler mez4 with them and they were much better. Loads of feel and plenty of grip, especially in the wet.

I had Angel ST's on another bike and I really couldn't get on with them. They weren't bad at all and seemed to grip well enough but I lacked any feel for what the tyre was doing and I didn't have confidence in them.

I've swapped them for pilot road 3 and I find them even better than the 2's. Even felt great on a track day.

I really think it's just down to personal preference but my vote definitely goes for the pilot roads.

No idea about the Pirelli's but the PR2's are a great tyre - maybe not as awesome in performance as the PR3's and PR4's but the 2's seem to last longer, which is why most people look for a tourer tyre.

I'm using PR3's on my ZZR 600 commuting all year round, mainly on motorways

Had them on in October and very happy with them (had Battlaxx BT23's on before which made me nervous)

have ridden over some snow on them to access where I park the bike and wasn't too bad.

I'd take the Michelin over the angel st.

I'm really not a fan of the Angel ST. They wore out too quick, squared off faster than the Michelin and had a really, really gay angel on them when new. The demon/devil or whatever tread is pretty lame too. Grip in dry was good, adequate in wet, but they really did wear out a lot faster than I'd hoped.

My brother used PR2, I'm currently using PR3. Both were/are great.

I dont mind PR3's but have no trust in fronts when tread gets low.

PR2's fitted now on the CBR6. I dont like them, front often feels like it could slide sideways.

Often worth considering track scubs... two pairs will be about the same as a new pair of commuter tires.. but only economical if you fit your own.

pilot road 2s are great value for money, especially now that the 3s and 4s are out now so can be had for much better prices.

They last a decent amount of abuse on even less-than-litre bikes (zx9r),although my bike is quite light compared to big tourers.

They're reasonable in the wet and a good tyre for riding on UK roads for both fun and commuting.

Back when the pilot road 2s were the fancy ones, I used the pilot road 1s but found the centre squared off a bit too readily, but then i did do mainly motorway commuting at that point (the road 2s seem more resistant to that).
