Posted in new bikers - coz that's what it feels like...

Finally found the right bike, good price and seemingly genuine seller

https://i972.photobucket.com/albums/ae205/zark_photos/fazer.jpg

03 Fazer, 27k on the clock. Had restrictors fitted when i picked it up which i spent a couple of hours on Saturday taking them straight out. (if anyone wants to buy 4 washers?)

For a 'first big bike' i am awesomely happy with it - took an 87 mile ride home with it and first commute today.

Brilliantly responsive - just need to get used to the clutch to save the noob over-revving when pulling away. Embarassed

The picture is from the ebay ad - can't be arsed to take any of my own - i'm too busy just riding the thing!

Love it love it love it.

Lovely bike and nice it comes with topbox.

Not sure if that model has the improved headlights over my 2000 version, but if it hasn't you seriously need to upgrade them before winter. They are lethally bad.

Aye, that's the revised edition with the slanted headlights. I'm likely to buy a Fazer as a first bike too. Loved one when I rode it back from the test centre

it's got the twin lamps (fox-eye?) - and they've been wired together so both the low beams are on together...

the bulbs look decidedly budget though - so am toying with the idea of hids (hiding the ballast in the fairing somewhere) or just a decent bulb... i get a bit of wobble in the whole nose cone - not sure if it's normal or there's something not done up somewhere. don't want to shake the bulbs to death! (the nose cone was replaced after a spill by the last owner)

much prefer the look of them both being on together though. Thumbs Up

Looks like a good example. Make sure you keep the rear brake scrupulously clean as they can sieze up. Also at that mileage keep an eye on the front wheel bearing. If it wears badly it can also break the speed sensor on the hub.

The nose cone is held on by two hex bolts, clearly visible from the nearside between the handlebars and the cone. Mine regularly work lose, just retighten them periodically.

Shouldn't be any wobble, best have a check on the fastenings.

Another thing to keep an eye on is where the downpipes join underneath the gearbox, the collector area is extremely prone to rust, and once it starts blowing it will disintegrate very quickly. I replace mine with these https://www.blackwidowexhausts.co.uk/downpipes-306-c.asp, which are about the cheapest option. Getting the manifold nuts off is a nightmare if they've rusted as well.

Congrats!!! Realy nice bike.

Check out https://foc-u.co.uk/ the Yamaha forum and owner club for any technical details. I am a foccer too with silver Foxeye Laughing

The foxeye is probably the best 600 Fazer ever. Some reviews say it is much better bike than the later models.

The only potential issue is some bikes have old 8mm front sprocket nut which may get loose. You can change it with new upgraded 12mm nut which costs £6 for a kit with nut and washer.

You'd definitely recommend the Foxeye over the original (with a headlight mod)? What's improved on the facelift? Smile

It looks better Laughing

Which is major improvement as far I am concern. It also has larger fuel tank and preload adjustment on front shocks compared to 98 model.

And the front headlights are both on, the boxeye only one headlight is on dipped beams you need to do a mod to fix that.

Pricewise the Foxeye is probably the best value entry big bike for around £1000-£1200 you cannot go better.
