gaaaaaah!

Left the house this morning only to find my beloved on its side Sad

There's a massive gouge in the Tarmac where the kickstand was so I think the heat yesterday softened the surface and she toppled overnight.
I can't tell if one of the neighbours helped by reversing into it or not, certainly no one thought to let me know and several people will have seen it.

Anyway, it's a cbr500r the fairing is scratched as well as the tail plastics, bar end is scraped and bent, clutch lever has a scrape on the end, left clip on has shifted a couple millimetres, small dent on the tank and the oil seems to have drained.

Anyone got an idea how much this is likely to cost to put right? Best and worst case?

Melting tarmac is a thing, it happens.

As for the scratches, leave them. Sort the clip on out and ride it.

If it has been that way overnight ... get it upright for a few hours and leave it that way .... also remove and clean the spark plug too.

Once that is clean and its been sat upright, check the oil level again - as per Ste question below ... you need to make sure it is either back in the sump or not somewhere it shouldn't be - gravity should help with this assuming it hasn't leaked out onto the road due to a crack in something.

I wouldn't start it until the above is checked.

Bear in mind it's due to be even hotter for the rest of the week so a puck might be a good idea.

I would be looking on the net for 2nd hand spares before going into Honda to be bent over!

There was stuff pissing out the drainage/overflow rubber pipes, there was some petrol leaking out too but not loads, the bike started up ok and I rode it in a little circle to check the gear shifter wasn't buggered.

I can barely change a lightbulb, so wouldn't even know where to start when it comes to the spark plug.
I want to sell the bike in December/January and those scrapes and scratches are going to cost me dearly when a potential buyer or dealer sees them so I'd at her get them all replaced
I'm really gutted because I've always been really careful with my bike, I clean it regularly and have never dropped it. Just Sod's law that if dropped itself

I presume / assume / hope you have checked the oil level using the dipstick?

The new 500's don't have dipsticks, there's a window with a level marker on the right side near the filler cap

I wouldn't replace any of that ( unless it affects operation) until sale time and then only if the price you get is good enough to make it worthwhile.

Nah, I held the bike up straight and waited a minute to let it settle but nothing, looks like it pretty much drained out.
I've just picked up a litre of oil and will replace it today.

My poor bike *sniff, bottom lip wobbles*

Don't just tip the whole new bottle in - do it a bit at a time and give things a chance to settle in and that way, if you need more than one bottle ... you don't have to drain out any overfill.
