Angle grinder will fix the padlock - 20-odd quid from Tesco.

Pro-tip: don't cut the padlock, cut the last link of the chain. If you cut the padlock you'll find the key right afterwards.

Actually, if your bike key is on the same ring as the padlock key - cut the padlock Smile

This is a meaty chain and padlock though will require more than a bog standard angle grinder I suspect.

£10 says you get through it with a normal angle grinder and cutting disc in no time.

Doesn't solve my bike key dilema however, is going to the main dealer my only option? Also what happens if you use the red key?

Depends on the bike, You are probably better up hitting a model specific forum and asking there.

I know I can go through a series of actions to code newly cut keys to my car, none of my bikes use coded keys though.

You are Noel Coward in the Italian Job and I claim my 5 ponds.

Related story, a certain Mr Suntan lost his fave sunglasses on day 2 in the Isle of Man. We made a special trip to Douglas shopping centre and after he had tried (at least) 500 pairs on (zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz) he purchased a (not cheap) replacement pair.

As he went to put them in his bike jacket pocket, guess what he found?

The tit........

Sounds silly, but try timpsons. I had to get a coded key cloned for my Alfa Romeo, and they did it for about £30 iirc. Stealers wanted about £110 Thumbs Down

Yep, i got two bike keys for the falco from Timpsons for £30.

The only thing is, they need a key so they can make another one. With no keys, that is going to be difficult!
